What is homecare?

In general terms, homecare refers to the care of patients with medical aids, dressings and medical therapies such as artificial nutrition, pain and antibiotic therapies at home or in nursing homes and retirement homes. Homecare care is provided as part of a medical outpatient therapy with the aim of maintaining the quality of care outside a hospital or inpatient treatment.

Homecare in contrast to home care

Homecare is not the same as home care. Home care includes the treatment and basic care, as well as the home care of a patient. Homecare also provides the organization of a complex medical treatment. A so-called “care manager” of the homecare area coordinates the care of the patient and interacts between doctor, nursing service, pharmacy and health insurance.

For whom is homecare relevant??
