Is the seattle citypass worth it?

Worth the Seattle CityPASS?

Somehow it was clear that I wanted to make a little trip to the United States on my trip to Canada. Seattle is the perfect place for a day out with quick access from Vancouver. Similar to many other big cities in the US, CityPASS is also available in Seattle (which I would also like to introduce to Chicago, by the way). The concept is a bit different than tourist maps in Germany. Public transport is not offered and the pass is in most cases only available for 5 – 7 attractions. For whom it is still worthwhile, you can read here.

How much is the Seattle CityPass?

The pass is valid for 5 well-known attractions in Seattle and is valid for 9 days after activation.

  • The CityPASS currently costs (2016) $ 74 (for children $ 54).

There are no other discounts for students or pensioners.

Where can I buy City Pass for Seattle??

CityPASS Seattle can be purchased on-site at any of the attractions described in “What’s Included” or online at de.citypass.com/seattle.

Can I use public transport with the Seattle CityPASS??

A ticket for local transport is not included, but much of the attraction is located on the old Expo grounds and is easily accessible. Please note that you also have enough change for Bus / Metro / Skytrain.

What you should know about the Seattle CityPass

  • On the front the date is stamped on which the coupon booklet is used for the first time. Only with this stamp the passport is also valid.
  • All information on opening times, best time to visit, train / bus connection and also whether you can use the Fast Lane with the pass can be found on the back of the voucher. Do not remove the coupons from the book, they will be invalid.

The following attractions can be used with the Seattle CityPass

The pass offers free entry to the following attractions:

  • Space Needle
  • Seattle Aquarium
  • Argosy Cruises Harbor Tour

If you want to see one of the four sights below, you have to choose one of the two attractions. Of course it is also possible to see both. There are additional discount codes available in the CityPASS issue. So for most of the sights there is a $ 3-5 discount.

  • EMP Museum OR Woodland Park Zoo
  • Chihuly Garden and Glass OR Pacific Science Center

Furthermore, there are various discounts for food, upgrades and Co. – Which are the you can read on the last pages of the passport.

Space Needle

Calling the Space Needle a television tower is a great understatement. Seattle’s most visible attraction is definitely worth a visit. Or two. The special thing about entering the Citypass is not just the Fastlane, but the Day & Night Ticket, with which you can look at the city in the morning and come back until 10 pm for free. Before the driveway, you will cross a kind of museum with a lot of history around the Space Needle and its visitors.

For the driveway you should have a camera ready and stand right at the door – because you can look directly to the outside. Upstairs you have a great view of Seattle both inside and out, and even a Skyneedle selfie at one point.

If the weather is not so great, you can dine in the restaurant or at numerous food stalls and look at pictures of people from all over the world. The Space Needle has one of the largest touch screens in the world and is therefore worth a visit for technology fans.
