Oh summer, we want to spend every minute with you! Although Berlin is not necessarily known as a city by the sea, it is also nice to relax by the water – and eat. We particularly like these 11 cafés and restaurants.

Right across from cinnamon & Flour you will find this little gem. Unplastered walls, lots of wood, lots of atmosphere and, as the name suggests, tables right on the water in summer. And if it’s too cold outside, you can even have breakfast inside on swings! Especially great: Here you get different breakfast platters for two or more people.

At the mouth of the Müggelspree to Müggelsee, the SpreeArche has its way in the middle of the water home. You can get to the pretty log cabin restaurant by raft every 15 minutes, then you can plop down on the sun terrace, switch off, or nibble smoked fish from the in-house oven. It is best to reserve in advance!

If you want to get out of the city and into the countryside, you can take a walk around the Schlachtensee followed by lunch in the fishing lodge on. In summer, the idyllic beer garden bursts at the seams, but when it gets colder, you sip soups and cappuccinos in the cozy restaurant. On Sunday the Villa on the lake then for brunch and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., serving up everything that is hungry heart popular.

Child-friendly, data-friendly, dog-friendly and of course also cat-friendly – in the wood market that has it Kater feast opened its wooden doors, offers a delicious lunch table during the week and a perfect, delicious basis for the subsequent party evening in the evening. In summer you can sit outside and keep a close eye on the Spree.

In the former May on the shore the owner teamed up with his best suppliers, the Italians of neontoaster and Siziliessen and brings Italian flair to Kreuzkölln. The menu includes octopus salad, delicious buffalo mozzarella and taglierino "alla genovese" with green beans, potatoes and homemade basil pesto as well as salads, Sicilian cannoli for dessert, deep-fried dough rolls with a creamy ricotta filling and of course very fabulous wines. If you fancy an aperitivo, you should hop here quickly, it’s worth it.

You don’t need a sea to get a little North Sea feeling in Berlin. In the restaurant and beer garden Hafenküche in Rummelsburg you sit wonderfully on the water and do not even have to drive far away. The menu doesn’t just include fish. With the Spree in front of your nose, you can spend a wonderful afternoon here. And if you prefer to spend it together as a couple, you can simply take the delicacies out of the restaurant in the form of a picnic basket. From couscous and egg salad to currywurst to avocado, freshly baked bread, Danish pastry and apple crumble, no wish is left unfulfilled.

It is an insider tip Café at the new lake not in a long time – but still a good one. Take a lap through the Tiergarten, take a boat tour on the lake and then settle down in the beer garden, here you can get crispy stone-oven pizza, liver cheese and pretzel. If you prefer it cozy, you should go to the restaurant. Candlelight, lots of wood and good cuisine invite you to linger. Other great beer gardens in the Tiergarten: the Schleusenkrug and the tea house in the English Garden.

The Liebermann Villa is the perfect place for an escape from the city and quickly reached by S-Bahn. In 1909 the painter Max Liebermann had a summer house built here on Wannsee, today you can see his works of art on site. The real highlight, however, is the garden plus museum café Max. Great selection of cakes and a wonderful view of the Wannsee.
