Aligner – the invisible solution for your misaligned teeth!

What are aligners?

There is a solution for straight teeth without having to carry metal struts. Computer-assisted tooth movements with almost invisible aligner rails (such as Invisalign) expand the treatment spectrum in a way that was previously not possible. Results can be achieved in a relatively short time (4-6 months) for which conventional orthodontic treatment would sometimes take years.

This is often a cheap option for adults who have a career and don’t feel comfortable wearing a metal brace. The technology behind invisible orthodontics is very advanced and, depending on the individual case, often offers the patient a much shorter treatment time.

The following information will help you better understand the treatment:

  • You also have to get used to the very inconspicuous aligner rails. This process usually takes 2-3 weeks.
  • The splints should be worn 22 hours a day. Only then can you get used to it quickly and only then can the short treatment time be observed.
  • Orthodontics straightens teeth and improves position, but does not make them more beautiful, neither in shape nor in color.
  • If the color and / or shape is to be changed, other forms of treatment such as whitening (teeth whitening) or veneers (shape and size change using ceramic shells) should be considered following the aligner treatment.
  • Shrinkage in the bones will always lead to constrictions in the jaw, which is why retraction is absolutely necessary after the treatment with the aligners to obtain the result. This can either be done with plastic rails, e.g. worn at night or with wire retainer rails that are glued behind the rows of teeth.

Computer-aided calculation of results can almost always be achieved, but it also depends on whether your teeth can be moved. Sometimes this is impossible:

  1. Existing implants cannot be moved.
  2. Bridge constructions cannot be moved together.
  3. Dental accidents can lead to bone adhesions (ankylosis), which may make tooth movement impossible.

That is why an X-ray before the start of treatment, along with other documents, is a requirement.

The gentle whitening of natural teeth

According to scientific studies, 80% of German women and men consider good looks to be important.

Flawless teeth are given a high priority. For the respondents, the main focus was on social acceptance, security in social contacts such as eating, speaking, kissing, i.e. a higher quality of life.

Most people would be willing to buy a more complex treatment route – for example in the form of an aesthetic dental treatment to take, if the result is an aesthetically pleasing result or stuck teeth.

For a radiant smile

A radiant smile and white teeth – who wouldn’t want that??
Aesthetic dentistry makes it possible for everyone.

Feel-of-life through beautiful teeth

This is where aesthetic dentistry comes in. In addition to their function in crushing food and making sounds, teeth should also be beautiful and give a good feeling. The special, individual, very personal wishes are in the foreground.

The entire spectrum of dentistry can be addressed. Two disciplines of aesthetic dentistry should be selected here as examples:

  • The change in tooth color
  • The change in tooth shape

Aesthetic dentistry includes:

Whitening / teeth whitening
You don’t like your tooth color even after cleaning your teeth? Then you should consider the method of "tooth whitening" to get to know! Why roam through life with yellow teeth when white teeth are feasible for everyone and the whitening can also be done without great risks? In the USA, bleaching has been very important for many years. However, teeth whitening does not belong in the hands of beauticians, but in the hands of the dentist. This is the only way to ensure that teeth whitening does not cause permanent damage. This may be a little more expensive at first, but it always pays off for the patient. The duration of use depends on the desired brightening. After 14 days of exposure, a brightening effect of around 7 scales is achieved.

veneers
Ceramic shells that protect the tooth structure. Beautiful teeth are the business card of a personality! A veneer is an approximately 0.4 mm thin ceramic bowl that is glued to your own teeth. The loss of tooth structure is reduced to a minimum. A veneer has excellent tissue compatibility, the highly glazed surface of which prevents deposits. In the past, teeth that were aesthetically impaired by discoloration, gaps, large visible fillings or broken corners were provided with crowns. A veneer is extremely lifelike, almost indistinguishable from your own teeth. We hereby restore the positive impression of healthy, white teeth.

Teeth whitening without risk

Why roam through life with yellow teeth when white teeth are feasible for everyone and the whitening can also be done without great risks? In the USA, bleaching has been very important for many years. However, teeth whitening does not belong in the hands of beauticians, but in that hands of the dentist.

This is the only way to ensure that teeth whitening does not cause permanent damage. It may be a little more expensive at first, pays but in any case for the patient. The duration of use depends on the desired brightening. After 14 days of exposure, a brightening effect of around 7 scales is achieved.

Our approach to bleaching

Due to the quite long exposure time of the bleach, this form of bleaching is also carried out at home (home bleaching). However, home bleaching is a teamwork of prophylactic assistant, dentist and patient.

Teeth cleaning as the first whitening step

First of all, the basic requirement is professional tooth cleaning by the prophylactic assistant. Only then can the patient’s real natural tooth shade be determined. The dentist now checks the existing fillings for tightness and then determines the most sensible tooth shade that should be achieved.

The prophylactic assistant now takes an impression of the patient’s teeth so that a thermoformed film can be created for them in the laboratory. This thermoformed film is now inserted by the dentist and it is also he who instructs the patient how to wear it.
Now it is up to the patient to wear this film together with the bleach at home. In between, the dentist checks the correct application of the bleaching by the patient during a control session. This continues to carry the film until the exposure time has expired.

Bleaching check by the dentist

Finally, the dentist checks the result of the treatment and, if necessary, renews old tooth fillings, because these do not change their color due to the whitening to the same extent as the teeth, but mostly remain dark.

There are risks from bleaching?

First of all, it remains to be seen that both vital and pulp-dead teeth can be bleached. A large number of studies have shown that bleaching is harmless. However, a reversible pulpal reaction of the teeth can occur temporarily. For the patient, this means that his teeth are warm for a while – but are especially sensitive to the cold. A reaction that, as described, occurs only temporarily.

The costs are not covered by the health insurance companies.

Beautiful teeth – business card of a personality!

A veneer is an approximately 0.4 mm thin ceramic veneer that is permanently applied to your own teeth and can restore them in shape and brilliance. The loss of hard tooth substance is reduced to a minimum, the healthy tooth substance is preserved. It is a minimally invasive form of treatment.

Positive impression due to lifelike veneers

A veneer has excellent tissue compatibility, the highly glazed surface of which prevents deposits. In the past, teeth that were aesthetically impaired by discoloration, gaps, large visible fillings or broken corners were provided with crowns. A veneer is extremely lifelike, almost indistinguishable from your own teeth and is characterized by exceptionally beautiful aesthetics. With good care and regular prophylaxis, veneers are a very long-lasting treatment method.

What are veneers used for??

The use of veneers is a branch of aesthetic dentistry and is usually used to beautify or straighten the front teeth. Beautiful teeth are an important part of a person’s overall appearance. For this reason, many people want their teeth to look good too: film and television stars show it.

A means to beautify unsightly teeth

Because regular, bright white rows of front teeth look attractive and are an expression of vitality and health. Not least because of this, a beautiful smile has a positive effect on self-confidence. Those who have beautiful teeth prefer to smile and therefore more often than someone who would rather hide their unsightly teeth.

  • unsightly fillings
  • broken teeth
  • discolored teeth
  • teeth of different sizes
  • Anterior gaps

What are the advantages of veneers??

Compared to the crowning of teeth, the use of veneers is much more gentle on the teeth, since much less tooth substance has to be removed to apply the veneers than to fix a crown. The surface of the tooth has to be ground down by about 0.5 – 0.8mm, which also means a loss of tooth substance, but far less than would have to be removed to crown a tooth.

Veneers as a tooth-friendly alternative

In addition, experience has shown that ceramic veneers have an excellent durability as long as they are not permanently overloaded by habits such as nail biting or chewing on pens. If the dental technician produces the veneers precisely, the dentist adapts them just as well and they are well cared for, these tooth veneers last 15 years and longer.

Disadvantages of veneers

The first has already been mentioned: Before the veneers are attached by gluing, the tooth surface must be sanded. However, only 0.5-0.8mm should be removed. The second disadvantage is the price of veneers, which – as you already guessed – the patient usually has to pay himself. Practical experience shows that for many people a radiant, beautiful smile is worth the money. Because veneers can "cosmetic" Brighten things up, for which the patient initially has to spend money, but the benefits of which he can often enjoy for decades.

A word about care

Once applied, veneers do not require any special care. That means no special care that goes beyond excellent oral hygiene, supplemented by regular checks by the dentist. Because you should have excellent oral hygiene "natural" Let teeth thrive as well as teeth with veneers. These will thank you with a long shelf life.
