Cologne Format is a blog from Cologne in which it turns more and more often UM Cologne. Thus, Cologne format is just one of many blogs from Cologne, which write from the city on topics around the cathedral of Cologne insider tips. But in my opinion, the city of Cologne does not know what’s happening in the online area around it. Blogs seem to be a mystery, the city is aloof for us. I’d like to show the city that there are many bloggers writing out of or out of the city!
“Cologne Format” was born years ago out of the idea of wanting to write about the city and to capture life in the streets of the cathedral city. I often went around with the camera, collecting stories, making recommendations and eventually the rest of the world became much more exciting. It definitely had some kind of trouble as there was no support from the city. The city of Cologne, their bloggers apparently do not care. Support – in whatever direction – there is zero! After all, Cologne has enough tourists and so one thinks there are enough topics in the online area around the city.
And so do the Facebook and Twitter activities of ‘Cologne Tourism’ or ‘Visit Koeln’. Too often links to the online shop, which offers the latest Cologne goodies from suitcases to Koelsch glass. The Twitter account has just 812 followers and so spills. He is resting at the weekend. What should you tweet? There are no personal contributions that could be forwarded.
Honestly? For a million metropolis, I find it very difficult to get baked no more than a rudimentary existence of social media activities. Of course it’s a budget issue. But especially young people, who travel to a foreign city, increasingly contact before the internet and try to find personal reports about the city, tips, suggestions, photos! With over 5 million overnight stays in 2012, Cologne is one of Germany’s most popular travel destinations.
But on the official site, they find just what is in every travel guide. I think that’s too little! As someone who works well with destinations, it is frustrating to see that this area in Cologne is fallow.
What I want to do now is to create a collection of Cologne blogs that come from Cologne or write about Cologne to show “Hey, the city lives online!” Of course I already know a lot of Ricarda of 23sqm style, of course , the point woman, Smilla of different dress, Bine of what own, Christina alias MrsBerry, – but I’m sure, there is much more in this city! I will first collect them here and list them on an extra page.
