Blusmart Oral Irrigator – Review

The irrigator of the Chinese brand Blusmart surprised in the test consistently positive and can compete with the best cordless devices in many areas. The workmanship is neat, the water pressure strong and the equipment generous. On the other hand, we make some criticisms in the operation.

Blusmart

Blusmart is not a manufacturer, but a brand operated by the Chinese company Shenzhen 1 Dreamland. Information about the brand is also difficult to find online, as the parent company apparently has no website. After all, the actual brand Blusmart there is an English page, but with facts also stingy. Although all products are listed in the assortment here, except for a short introduction and a link to Amazon you will not find anything here. The range is relatively manageable, but very varied. In addition to our oral shower you will also find bicycle accessories, mattresses, laminators, camera lenses and much more. The products are apparently distributed exclusively on Amazon, so too the tested Blusmart oral irrigator. For some time now, this has been one of the top ranks in the sales charts at Amazon and also shines there with extremely good customer ratings. So it’s high time for us to take a look as well the Blusmart oral shower in the test take a close look.

Equipment

The Blusmart is an accumulator irrigator with the water tank in the handle. The tank absorbs a maximum of 300 milliliters of water, but can also be filled with a mixture of water and a mouthwash. When the tank is empty, the Blusmart weighs just under 230 grams, with a full tank, therefore, just over 500 grams. The water is here with up to 1,200 pulses per minute and a pressure of 2 – 6,9 bar out of the nozzle. The pressure depends on the selected mode, of which there are three: Normal, Soft and Pulsing.

Technical specifications:
Mass: approx. 230 g (empty)
Tank volume: 300 ml
Water: integrated
Power levels: 3
Max. Water pressure: 6.9 bar
Pump frequency: 1,200 pulses / min
Mouthwash addition:
Timer:
Replacement nozzles: 4

The lithium-ion battery has a capacity of 1,200 mAh and thus allows an operating time of about 10 minutes. To do this, the battery must first be charged for 4 to 6 hours using the enclosed USB cable. This can be done on the one hand, for example, on a computer, but of course also quite normal at a power outlet. The oral irrigator is also waterproof to IPX7 standard and thus tolerates a short dip easily. In addition to the actual oral irrigator and the charging cable, the price also includes four nozzles including color rings, a matching case for two nozzles, a small storage bag and a short user manual. Of course, the slip-on nozzles can also be bought separately and then cost around 2 euros each.

Test result – solid performance

While newly invented brands from China – often justifiable – have fears in terms of processing quality, the Blusmart is doing very well in this area. The used Materials make a good impression and also the controls work perfectly. One point of criticism, which also affects many other oral showers, is here, however the permanently installed battery. A defect here is therefore equal to a total loss and a new purchase is pending. We also did not like the lid of the water tank. This is very handy for refilling, but does not make the most stable impression.

In the operation one must first emphasize that with the Blusmart the mode can be selected BEFORE switching on. Then you can switch on the irrigator then completely alone and start directly with the desired mode. Anyone who has ever had an oral shower at which you can change the setting after switching on, knows how annoying that can be. Unfavorable here, however, is the Arrangement of the controls, because these can also be activated very easily, we inadvertently press the on / off switch in the test again and again.

The cleaning of the oral irrigator, on the other hand, is completely trouble-free, since the water tank can be easily removed and then also has a sufficiently large opening. Also, the refilling during operation is thanks to the above-mentioned cap in the tank very uncomplicated and fast possible. Of course, the actual application also requires some practice with the Blusmart irrigator, especially with an empty tank. Because here it depends on the attitude of the device, otherwise sometimes only air is sucked out of the tank.

As far as the intensity of the water jet is concerned, the Blusmart oral irrigator should probably leave nothing to be desired in most users. In normal mode, the beam is really strong for a battery irrigator and not very far away from stationary equipment. The “soft” mode is significantly weaker in comparison and many are likely to want a middle ground. Unfortunately, the third mode “pulsating” does not really offer that, as the two other settings seem to be active alternately.

Test conclusion – good alternative

Especially in view of the very fair price of around 35 euros, the Blusmart irrigator proves in our test as a real alternative to the models of established manufacturers. Anyone who gets used to one or the other Macke in the operation, is rewarded with very good performance.
