What can you do with children at Lake Constance? We have been on a family holiday at Lake Constance and can recommend the following excursion destinations and leisure activities around Lake Constance to all other families with children:
Meersburg Castle, the Zeppelin Museum, the Dornier Museum, the Tractor Museum, the pile dwellings, a trip with the Lake Constance ship to Mainau Island, the reptile museum, the guided tour through the monastery and Salem Castle, the Sea-Life Aquarium in Constance, the Marienschlucht gorge with the Kargegg Castle ruins and the Rhine Falls. During a family holiday in summer, however, it is above all the many bathing spots that our children loved the most.
Lake Constance with children: Swimming in the beautiful lake
Where can you swim with children at Lake Constance? The lake is usually shallow, which is very pleasant with children. With a water temperature of around 24 degrees in summer, bathing in Lake Constance is an attraction. Almost every village on Lake Constance has a lido or access to the lake. For swimming at Lake Constance, we took the children by bike from the holiday apartment or the family hotel towards the lake. So we have always found the most beautiful bathing spots – either in an organised lido or at a less crowded bathing spot. In spring or autumn the many warm pools of the indoor swimming pools are recommended.

The “Mili” in Bregenz is very traditional. It is built on piles and the historical ambience gives bathing a special flair. It is an outdoor swimming pool and a popular lido on Lake Constance. Also for the summer is the natural beach bath in Kressbronn. The great water playground is especially entertaining for children. There is also lots of fun for children in the Lindenhof seaside resort in Lindau. For swimming there are two bathing islands in Lake Constance and afterwards you can play football or volleyball on the large meadow. From Lindau we parents enjoy one of the most beautiful panoramas of the mountains on the opposite shore of Lake Constance in Switzerland. A beautiful lido on Lake Constance with children.

Cycling on Lake Constance with childrenBiking on Lake Constance is a great way to spend a family holiday. There are no big and long climbs, the Bodensee cycle path is ideal for children. You could cycle around the entire lake. So that it doesn’t get too boring, there are always family-friendly destinations to visit, especially on the German side between Lindau and Constance. But also from the holiday flat or the family hotel at Lake Constance.

Here you can stroll with children between Lake Constance and the historic castle. Afterwards the way up to Meersburg Castle with children is a very good tip. A drawbridge takes you to the historic building. There is also the possibility to visit the interiors. A visit to Salem Castle and Monastery is also attractive for children on family holidays at Lake Constance. The magnificent monastery can also be visited from the inside during a child-friendly guided tour, from where it is not far to the bathing places in Überlingen.
