Camping recipes: healthy snacks in between, camper style

Healthy and tasty snacks for in between, which also convince children

The time between meals can sometimes be quite long for children. Good if you can offer them a few small snacks in between, which are not always chocolate, cake or the quick cheese bread. Whatever goes, fruits and vegetables. For example, the best thing to do in the morning is to cut carrots and cucumbers lengthways into strips, so that the children can always snack on something healthy throughout the day.

Recipe ideas for the small hunger

A little bit more complex, but also for it with the "WOW effect" on children are the dishes that I have put together here. Easy to prepare in any camping kitchen and tested on my own child.

Zucchini Chips

Ingredients for 2-3 people

1 zucchini
1 liter of oil
Some salt and pepper
Fresh chives

Preparation:

Cut the zucchini into very thin strips. Put the oil in a pan and let it heat up. Then gradually put the zucchini slices in the oil and let them brown slightly for 4-5 minutes. Drain the finished slices on kitchen paper. Season with salt and pepper and sprinkle the chopped chives over it. The chips are ready to be eaten comfortably around the campfire or for an afternoon of games.

Cheese wands

Ingredients for 2-3 people

1 piece of cheese (300 g)
1 pack of pretzel sticks
Small cookie cutters

preparation:

With a small cookie cutter – in my opinion, a star is best – cut several pieces out of the cheese and carefully slide them onto a salt stick. Little princesses like that as little magicians.

Marshmallow Cookies

Ingredients for 4-5 people (depending on the degree of post-cat)

1 pack of marshmallows
1 pack of cookies

preparation:

Push the marshmallows on a metal stick (be careful: it can get hot!) Or a soaked wooden stick (so it doesn’t catch fire) and roast over the campfire or over a candle until it is nice and sticky. Then you put it between two biscuit slices and the most delicious sandwich in the world is ready.

Bruschetta

ingredients for 4 persons

1 baguette stick or bread of your choice
4 cloves of garlic
4 large tomatoes (they are easier to peel than the small ones)
Salt pepper
olive oil
Fresh basil leaves

preparation:

Cut bread into slices and then rub in with the clove of garlic. Peel and dice the tomatoes. Now distribute the cubes evenly on the bread slices, season with salt and pepper, drizzle olive oil over them and garnish with basil leaves. Buon appetito!

Cauliflower nuggets

ingredients for 4 persons

1 cauliflower
1 egg
breadcrumbs
1 clove of garlic
Salt, nutmeg
50 g mozzarella
60 g parmesan
lemon juice

Preparation:

Break the cauliflower into small florets and cook in salted water until soft. Then pour the florets into a sieve, lined with a tea towel, and let cool completely. Then squeeze out the liquid using the tea towel. The florets are allowed to break and a pamp is created. Put everything in a bowl, mix in the egg and 30 g breadcrumbs. Knead the pressed clove of garlic, the grated mozzarella and the parmesan with pure and tidy. Finally, season with salt, pepper, a pinch of nutmeg and a dash of lemon juice and knead again. Now sprinkle the remaining breadcrumbs on a plate, form 10-15 small balls with moist hands and roll in the breading. Now fry the nuggets until they are golden brown on both sides over medium heat. They taste best with zaziki or guacamole dip. For children, ketchup is often enough.

I am happy if you and your children like the recipes. Cooking together is twice as fun, even if the space in the kitchen in a camper or caravan for two is rather limited. Preparation is also possible outside.
