Perceive and treat young people holistically

In child and adolescent psychiatry in Neuburg, we deal with the most varied problems of young people in family, kindergarten and school and the entire social environment. This includes, above all, mental and emotional disorders, psychological, psychosomatic, developmental and neurological diseases as well as the resulting behavioral problems in childhood and adolescence.

We offer comprehensive detection, treatment and prevention for all clinical pictures. These include depressive disorders, hyperkinetic disorders, anxiety, eating disorders, concentration problems, elimination disorders (such as wetting), sleep disorders, psychoses, traumatic experiences and learning and performance difficulties.

In children, we often deal with AD (H) S, anxiety, autism, and school problems; in adolescents, it is more likely to be depression, media abuse and addiction, school performance problems, eating problems, self-harm (such as scratching) or thoughts of suicide.

In accordance with the principles of the KJF Klinik Sankt Elisabeth, child and adolescent psychiatric treatment is based on personal development and the patient’s current life situation. The integration of family and social environment is important for successful treatment.

Close cooperation for holistic care

In order to treat and look after the young patients entrusted to us in the best possible way, we have all departments under one roof, in particular pediatrics, social pediatric center or gynecology. As a clinic for child and adolescent psychiatry, we are also very well networked with resident child and adolescent psychiatrists, therapists and doctors. We are also in close contact with many institutions and authorities such as schools, youth and health offices, advice centers, family courts or the police.

Recognizing and understanding problems: our investigation methods

The better we understand the diseases of young people, the more better can we treat them. That is why we attach great importance to targeted examination methods in order to optimally plan the therapeutic measures. Our diagnostics are usually carried out via the outpatient clinic and are based on a multiaxial approach: This means that several aspects (“axes”) are always taken into account when examining a mental disorder. Our multi-professional team uses the following methods:

  • Child and adolescent psychiatric examinations (including neurological examinations)
  • Developmental diagnostics (e.g. medical history)
  • Test psychological examinations (e.g. intelligence and partial performance tests)
  • emotional diagnostics (e.g. projective procedures)
  • apparatus diagnostics (e.g. EEG)
  • therapeutic diagnostics (e.g. speech and movement diagnostics)
  • psychosocial diagnostics (e.g. social skills, family, home visits)
  • Nursing and educational diagnostics (e.g. everyday skills and practical skills)
  • special education / school diagnostics
  • Autism Diagnostics (Autism Outpatient Clinic)
  • consultative examinations (e.g. at a pediatrician, ENT or eye doctor)
  • Comprehensive range of therapies for targeted individual treatment

A wide range of therapeutic measures is available in our department for child and adolescent psychiatry and psychotherapy. It is our primary goal to offer young patients the best possible treatment that suits them. Our individual concepts take medical, therapeutic and nursing-pedagogical aspects into account. All measures can, depending on the form of the illness outpatient, partially or fully inpatient. Our multi-professional team uses the following therapy methods:

  • occupational therapy
  • Exercise therapy / mototherapy

In order to provide our young patients in Neuburg with the best possible care, we rely on a multi-professional team. These include specialist and assistant physicians for child and adolescent psychiatry and psychotherapy, psychologists and pedagogues as well as child and adolescent therapists. You work hand in hand with our specialist therapists and social and curative educators. And don’t forget the teachers of the classes for the sick and our medical assistants.

Our nurses, nurses and nursing nurses are indispensable. They form our nursing and educational service and design the milieu therapy. They support the implementation of therapeutic orders, promote practical life skills and monitor the intake of medication.

Our goal is to stabilize the patient’s soul and promote their self-awareness. Everyone makes an important contribution to the success of our work.

For children, a hospital stay is a turning point in their lives. With our in-house clinic classes, we therefore pursue two goals: On the one hand, the young patients should miss as little school material as possible during their stay with us. On the other hand, school always means a bit of everyday life that we want to keep them.

Our clinic classes are connected to the Special Education Center (SFZ) in Neuburg. The lessons take place here in the clinic. The children and adolescents are trained according to their resilience and gradually (again) introduced to learning. For external school trials, we work in close cooperation with the surrounding schools.

We offer an extensive range of care. The focus is on the diagnosis and treatment of all child and adolescent psychiatric disorders, with the exception of primary addictions. All measures can be carried out on an outpatient basis, as well as partially or fully inpatient: the severity of the symptoms determines the type of treatment.
