Children’s scooter: city scooter for children – bike – skate

Children’s scooters and city scooters for children are next to bicycles, skateboards, inline skates and Co. a popular form of transportation and sports equipment. Children have fun and train endurance, motor skills and balance at the same time.

I have already presented city scooters for adults in detail, which in most cases can also be easily ridden by children. The advantage is that both children and adults can easily use them to get around.

The Hudora Big Wheel Air 205 * is a cool city scooter that my 4-year-old daughter could ride with. The advantage is that you can drive it as an adult without any problems.

The Hudora Big Wheel Air 205 is also very suitable for children

My daughter is now 8 years old and we are still both on the scooter. I often go to work by scooter and then pick it up from school with the scooter. She is always happy about it and then rolls off enthusiastically, just like on the day the photo was taken.

As you can also see in the photo, the handlebar is even a bit extended. You can make it even more pure and it is already suitable for smaller children. My daughter was already enthusiastic on the scooter at the age of 4, as you can see in the video I recorded at the time:

What does a good children’s scooter cost??

The Hudora Big Wheel Air 205 is suitable for both adults and children. I paid almost 150 euros for this. You can also check the current price here on Amazon. *

Of course, as with any product, there are cheap scooters and slightly more expensive scooters. The Price range is between 30 euros to 150 euros. Here, too, it is important to get what you pay for. Of course, those who are willing to invest a little more get better quality in most cases.

The very cheap scooters for around 30 euros to 40 euros are more suitable for small children. I wouldn’t let my 8-year-old daughter ride on it anymore. For small children around the age of 4, these are okay.

The best children’s scooters

In my view, the two following scooters are very suitable for children. I would like to show you the best children’s scooters from my point of view on this page.

I looked at a lot of scooters and compared them.

The following scooters are among the best children’s scooters for me. If you find other scooters good or already have experience with one of the children’s scooters, I look forward to your comment.

Children’s scooter for toddlers (3-5 years)

  • You already get the Hudora Evolution children’s scooter under about 40 euros. The current price can also be found here on Amazon. * I also think it’s nice that the scooter is available in both a Boys and a Girls version. In my view, the boys version can also be easily driven by girls.

  • It is very good that this children’s scooter is both with three wheels as well as with two wheels can be operated. You can easily convert it quickly. The very young children can do their first trials with three wheels and if they can do it a little better, simply convert the scooter to two wheels.
  • It’s also nice that that Running board non-slip is because it has a special coating. There are also special ones Safety handles for a good hold. This is also not a matter of course. We were given a scooter back then, it didn’t have it and was very cheap to manufacture. My daughter never drove that.
  • The scooter also has small roles with a diameter of 120mm at the front and 80mm at the back. As I said, I would rather recommend that. Small children can drive so much safer. With big bikes they would be overwhelmed, which is more for older children.
  • The The maximum load capacity of the Hudora Evolution is 20 kg. I would say that’s about the age of 4. Of course, that’s always different. But you probably know best what your child weighs! :)

I also liked the following children’s scooter for children from 3 years:

  • The WeSkate children’s scooter with glowing LED wheels * is a very cool stylish scooter with flashing LED wheels. Every child loves that!

  • The scooter also costs about around 40 euros.
  • In contrast to the Hudora Evolution, this one two large wheels at the front and two other small wheels at the rear. At the back, the wheels are right next to each other. This should make driving with the scooter more stable and safer.
  • The Handlebars can be adjusted in three heights and so adapt to the size of the child.

Children’s scooter for larger children (from approx. 4-5 years)

  • For under about 80 euros you already get a very good Hudora scooter, which you can also see very often in children: Hudora Big Wheel 205 with RX technology. You can check the current price here. *

  • This scooter is much more stable and is made of high quality aluminum. He allows one maximum load capacity of 100 kg and is therefore also suitable for adults who are not too heavy.
  • He has something larger 205mm wheels. With these it is much easier to drive than with small wheels. However, the wheels are not too big so that the child can still ride the scooter well.
  • The Handlebars can also be adjusted in height and can grow with the child. Or alternatively, you can also switch between child and adult mode, which we also do with our scooter so quickly and easily.
  • It is also nice that he is folds up and a shoulder strap is included is.
  • Take care of security reflectors on the deck and handlebars and can be braked using the rear wheel brake, d. H. you simply step on the rear fender with your foot and the scooter is braked by the friction.
  • The scooter also has one stand.

What should you consider when buying a children’s scooter?

Especially with city scooters, which are intended for children, you should pay attention to a few things and not necessarily choose the offer that is cheapest at first glance. After all, security plays a big role and you don’t want to blame yourself afterwards when something happens.

You should pay attention to the following features when buying a city scooter for children:

Step surface should be sufficiently large and rubberized: So that the child has a secure grip on the scooter, you should also make sure that child scooters have a correspondingly wide and long tread area. >From what age can children ride a scooter??

My daughter is the first time with 4 years ridden on the Hudora Big Wheel 205. I think that is a good Age at which it is worth buying a children’s scooter. At this age, the children usually have the mental maturity and motor skills to drive such a child’s scooter safely.

My son recently had his 4th birthday and in summer we will give him the scooter to drive. At the age of 3 he would not have been able to drive such a city scooter without any problems.

Instead, he’s already with that Wheel blown through the area. At this age, I also find such an impeller without training wheels better. In this way, children learn to keep their balance on such a vehicle at a very young age. This is very helpful when driving a scooter if the child is already able to do it.

What are the differences with children’s scooters??

Children’s scooter with pneumatic tires

There are quite a number of children’s scooters with tire. These are more suitable for larger children from 4 years and older, since the wheels on these children’s scooters are also larger than on the classic scooters. A certain skill to keep the balance on the scooter and motor skills are necessary here.

Children’s scooter with 3 wheels

For toddlers who are not yet able to keep their balance so well, there are children’s scooters with 3 wheels. These scooters are suitable for entry and first driving tests. Ideally, the third wheel can be removed so that the child can still use the scooter when he is older. However, in this case you should always consider the maximum load capacity of the city scooter. As a rule, this is not too high for this type of children’s scooter.

Children’s scooter with seat

There are also children’s scooters with seats for the little ones. According to the manufacturers, these children’s scooters are suitable for children between 1 and 5 years of age. I personally believe that they are more suitable for children from the second or third year. Then they can also be a lot of fun for the children and enable them to get into scooter.

Which brands are recommended for children’s scooters?

There are different brands and manufacturers that offer city scooters for children. However, there are two manufacturers that have made a name for themselves over the years and offer very high quality children’s scooters. Both companies are German companies, which already suggests a certain quality standard.

PUKY children’s scooter

The German manufacturer PUKY is known primarily as a quality manufacturer for children’s bicycles, tricycles and balance bikes. Children’s scooters and scooters are also part of the repertoire of this traditional manufacturer, which has been around for over 70 years.

We have been using a PUKY balance bike and a PUKY bike for years and are still very satisfied with it. First the PUKY had our daughter and now our son is enjoying the vehicles.

What I like very much at PUKY is the fact that the company has a very social corporate focus. PUKY assembles in over a dozen workshops for people with disabilities in Germany.

PUKY has a wide range of children’s scooters: Just have a look here *.

HUDORA children’s scooter

Hudora is also a German company that has been around for a very long time. To be precise since 1919. Hudora is known for its city scooters, but also develops other relevant products, such as skateboards, roller skates and other leisure and fitness products.

Hudora is committed to sustainable and social engagement. In this way, we produce and act in all company areas as ecologically and sustainably as possible in order to protect the environment. In addition, the products are developed according to their own statements according to the highest quality and safety standards. I think it’s very good that a manufacturer deals with this issue, because even that is not a matter of course.

Hudora also offers a large selection of children’s scooters: Click here for the offers *.
