Different beliefs
Because the Catholic Church did not allow any changes, a "new", the Evangelical Church, was eventually founded. The word ‘Evangelical’ also comes from the Greek and means ‘related to the good news’. The movement that led to the division of the Christian church is now called the Reformation. That means something like ‘renewal’. The leader of the Reformation movement in Germany was the monk Martin Luther. Today about 20 percent of all Christians in the world are Protestant.
Many holidays
Whether Catholic, Evangelical or Orthodox: There are many holidays in the Christian church. Most of them are related to the life of Jesus. On Christmas the birth of Jesus is celebrated, its at Easter resurrection. Other important holidays include Pentecost, Ascension Day or Corpus Christi.
