Cleaning against heart attack

The importance of oral health for health is common in the population and le >

What does oral health mean anyway? How important is that for the body? What effects can a diseased oral cavity have??
Studies from Finland, USA and Germany have shown that the Heart attack risk doubles, stroke risk triples and the risk of premature birth increases eightfold (!) In the presence of trivial gingivitis (periodontal disease). The germs in a deep periodontal pocket (gram-negative anerobes) can pass through the bloodstream to other parts of the body and cause damage there.

The gum inflammations have almost doubled in the last 10 years!
52.7% of all adults suffer from moderate periodontal disease! KZBV study

How do they do that??
The pathogens lead to an activation of cytokines (hormone-like messengers) that give information to distant organs. e.g. the placenta in the womb is stimulated to slow down the growth of the embryo and also initiate a birth sooner! This leads to underweight newborns and premature births.
One can not repeat often enough that the risk of giving birth to an underweight child or having a premature birth is eight times higher in case of periodontitis!

Caries (tooth decay) and periodontal disease (gum disease, “periodontal disease”) are caused by microorganisms in the plaque (plaque). Through a strategic approach and close collaboration between the dental prophylaxis team and you, action can be taken to prevent the major diseases of the mouth, namely tooth decay and periodontal disease. The following components of our prophylaxis concept are explained here.

Professional tooth cleaning
– does not mean the same in every practice! Quality can only be experienced!

An important part of the sessions is the detailed conversation. We gain from this conversation via e.g. Nutritional and nursing habits, food preferences and drug control are important indications for your further treatment. Since the plaque and the bacteria contained therein are at the center of the disease, it is of utmost importance to completely remove the dental plaque. In the context of a control session, it is the task of a specially trained dental assistant of the prophylactic team to carefully remove the prophylactic assistant, the plaque and the tartar. This is done partly with an ultrasound device and partly with hand instruments. Finally, the cleaning of interdental spaces and other hygienic problem areas and the polishing and fluoridation of the teeth. In addition, gentle therapies such as laser therapy or periochips are used.

laser treatment
In recent years, the incidence of periodontal disease even in younger people is very strong. The burden on the periodontal pockets by aggressive bacteria is already not satisfactorily treatable in many cases with mechanical cleaning alone.
For this reason, we use a special innovative laser system, with which germs are specifically eliminated – without damaging the body’s own tissue! The laser therapy is painless, has no side effects and is extremely effective.

Oral hygiene advice
Through an individual information program you will be explained in detail the development of caries and periodontal disease and the possibilities of prevention. These include toothbrush removal techniques, flossing, the use of interdental brushes, and other aids. In addition, information is given on the effects of enamel hardening by various fluoridation techniques and dietary advice.

Lifelong prophylaxis
Prophylaxis begins before birth and ends in old age. Since the bacteria causing caries (Streptococcus mutans) are transmitted to the infant through intimate contact, we consult mothers during pregnancy. If necessary, the transmission risk is determined by means of a saliva test and, if appropriate, a number of germ counts of Streptococcus mutans is made. A lifelong care by our prophylaxis team is advisable to respond to the different needs of each age. While in the infant the oral hygiene measures can be carried out with a cotton swab, the toddler with a child‘s toothbrush and circular motions cleans the teeth, the full dentition teens and adults e.g. Oral hygiene according to the so-called bass method and operates with dental floss, it is useful for prosthesis wearers to use special prosthesis brushes. Prophylaxis is not tied to a specific age, but remains a lifelong task. In older people – and more and more older people can get their teeth into old age with the prophylactic measures that are available today – the tooth root surfaces, which are particularly susceptible to tooth decay, are often freed by gum recession.

Genetic analysis
As part of a comprehensive preventive approach, we perform a genetic marker analysis to determine the quality of the bacteria involved in disease development. The test values make it possible to develop a targeted therapy and care concept.

nutrition counseling
The main enemy of teeth is sugar, both in the form of sucrose, glucose and fructose. Since sugar is absorbed consciously and unconsciously, we have to live with it. “Hidden sugars” are used as taste corrigents or often only for weight gain in foods such as e.g. Ketchup, yogurt and especially drinks in significant quantities. We need to be aware of the dangers of sugar in terms of tooth decay, and we strongly recommend avoiding sugar at short intervals because it causes a drop in pH in the mouth every time. The acid production happens by the conversion of sugar into acid by certain bacteria of the plaque. If the acid attack occurs too quickly, so that the natural reparative processes in the enamel are no longer possible by demineralization, dental damage is inevitable.

fluoridation
By incorporating fluoride, the enamel is made more resistant to the acid attack of bacteria and reduces the risk of tooth decay. Fluorides, which are found everywhere in the upper layers of the earth‘s surface and are non-toxic, must not be confused with the highly toxic and synthetically producible gas fluorine, nor with common salt – a chloride – with chlorine. Various possibilities for melt hardening with fluorides are available. We distinguish between incorporation of fluorides into the whole metabolism via tablets, salt and water from the local fluoridation agents such as solutions, gels, varnishes and toothpastes. In infants fluoridation by tablets is recommended. As soon as there are local opportunities due to fluoridation and it is ensured that the corresponding drugs are not swallowed, it is necessary to pass on the local fluoridation. Since the fluoride content in the German drinking water is very low, it is recommended to use fluoride toothpaste and weekly brushing of fluoride-containing jellies as a local domestic fluoridation measure.

fissure sealing
The teeth have deep pits and fissures on the occlusal surface. They are therefore at risk of caries, especially if the teeth cleaning is not quite optimal. In certain cases, it may be necessary to seal the fissures (pits) of posterior teeth to reduce caries susceptibility. Preventive protection is only to be expected if the sealant is sealed in time, ie soon after the tooth has broken through before tooth decay has occurred. The protection against dental caries is not perfect. Also essential are low-sugar diet and good dental care, supplemented by suitable fluoridation. The applied to the tooth plastic sealer lacquer is subject to high stresses and must therefore be regularly checked and renewed if necessary.

Recall
Depending on the degree of risk and severity of the disease, we recommend individual regular examinations and treatments at intervals of 2 to 6 months.

Lifelong prophylaxis is nicer than lifelong treatment !
