In such cases, you should use the following tips on cleanliness education. However, you should only start with cleanliness education at the end of the second year of life.
Cleanliness education – 5 tips on how children get clean
How children can get clean: What you need to know as parents so that you can get clean.
1. Tip for cleanliness education: consider physical maturity
Cleanliness education requires a certain level of physical maturity. Specifically, this means that certain muscles and nerve tracts have to be trained so that the child can control his bladder and rectum muscles. You should not try to train babies for cleanliness while they are being educated about cleanliness. In such a training, only the child’s reflexes are trained. With age, these reflexes disappear and you have to start with the actual cleanliness education.
2. Tip for cleanliness education: put on training pants
It is recommended that you put on the training pants for the children instead of the usual diapers. The child can pull these special pants up and down alone. In addition, they have only a thin layer of insulation. When the child urinates in these underpants, the moisture quickly cools down. As a rule, the child feels this cold uncomfortable and will prefer to use the toilet over cold, wet underpants.
3. Tip for cleanliness education: toilet session after eating
A basic requirement for cleanliness education is that the child can use the toilet or potty independently and sit on it. It makes sense for the child to sit on the toilet 3 times a day for training, regardless of whether they have to or not.The toilet session should always take place after eating and should not take longer than 5 minutes. Even if the child was unsuccessful during this time, you should cancel the toilet session after this period.
4. Tip for cleanliness education: toilet use positive
It is important that the child experiences the trip to the toilet as positive. Praise the child even if the session was unsuccessful. The child experiences his first successful toilet visit as a special achievement. In this case, you should pay special attention to him.
5. Tip for cleanliness education: condition emptying
In addition, you should condition your bowel movements using the toilet. If you notice the signs of typical bowel movements in the child, such as the pressing sound, the tense facial expression, put the child on the toilet as soon as possible so that it does not do its business in the diaper, but in the toilet bowl made it to the toilet, you can put the contents of the diaper in the toilet bowl and then put the child on the toilet. As a result, the child also connects the bowel movement to the toilet.
Setbacks are normal
Relapses in the area of cleanliness, e.g. due to stress, illness, Diarrhea or constipation are quite normal. Important is therefore that you the child give a lot of patience and attention.
