Test report Croozer Kid

The Croozer Kid offers a powerful 3 in 1 kit

The Croozer Kid is a true multifunctional talent. It can be used as a bike trailer, buggy or jogger and is ideal for parents who love sporting activities with their children. And the good news is that in all three forms it is extremely stable and very fulfilling. The dynamic design is really noticeable in the safety passenger cell with roll bar and side impact protection. In addition, with a click & Crooz can be switched between the three options in just a few simple steps. We were struck by the ergonomically shaped child seat, which offers your child a safe, comfortable hold during every activity. In addition, a 20 liter storage space ("trunk") behind the seat offers space for any accessories that are required for a successful trip. A wide wheelbase and a low center of gravity give the kid a particularly high level of stability. An aluminum frame is used, which is light with a weight of 14 kg and does not cause any difficulties when starting off or braking. A great idea is the so-called click & Flash, which offers both brake lights to the rear and headlights to the front. Unfortunately, this is a paid accessory and can easily be ordered online via the manufacturer’s website. The Croozer Kid is the combination of enormous sportiness and comfort.

Scope of delivery of the Croozer K >

The scope of delivery has slightly more parts than other models

The scope of delivery has slightly more parts than other bicycle trailers. The first thing you notice is a large curved pole and two slightly curved drawbars of the same length. Under the heading "Commissioning" it will be read that before the first ride a few steps have to be taken to explain the large scope of delivery. Another eye-catcher is a third large bike that turns out to be a jogger bike.

Commissioning of the Croozer K >

The kid is easy to compress for delivering and traveling

As already mentioned, the large curved rod must first be attached to the aluminum frame. This is done with the help of screws. The rear tires can then be attached to the axle using a simple click system. The car is then ready, the only thing left is to decide which of the three sets corresponds to the situation. The buggy wheel is simply attached to the crossbar ("bumper"), while further connections have to be screwed onto it for the other two options.

The jogger function

The two curved poles turn out to be the axis for the jogger variant. The drawbar is also attached to the bumper for the trailer. All in all, the assembly is a bit more complex than with the Qeridoo models, but this is not much and should not influence the decision.

The drawbar is relatively large, which has no influence when driving

The connection between the bike and the car was successful. A hinge is built into it that cushions the car when braking hard, but you can also see a lock that makes it impossible to detach the drawbar. A great security factor. If the right set is installed, the trolley just has to be opened. This is done based on the seat. The backrest must be folded up and the two brackets around the frame must be closed. We have to admit that a little bit of force is required, because the seat and the carriage have to be brought under tension for optimal support. But after practicing once or twice this is no longer a problem.

The trailer follows the bike very smoothly and it can be accelerated well

One advantage of the Croozer Kid is the relatively short length of the car. This should not scare you, the space for your child and the storage space do not suffer. The ergonomic seat is slightly tilted backwards, which is why something could be saved in space. This gives a very pleasantly noticeable maneuverability. Another plus point is the trailer joint: in the event of sharp braking, it prevents the car from coming to a very abrupt stop and offers quasi a small crumple zone.

The 20 inch tires make driving easier and cushion at the same time

20 inch aluminum rims with ball bearings ensure that the car rolls very easily. Two cat eyes ensure safety on the street. Comparable to an all-weather tread, the tires are full of wet roads. The air filling also ensures that small bumps such as gravel or branches can be intercepted for the time being. We could not see another suspension directly, even if we think that despite it, very much little Vibration arrives at the child. The Ergo headquarters could be responsible for this. Its spanned construction allows your little one to cushion a bit in the seat, comparable to a car seat from the 1960s.

We rate the driving style as very good, because there is comfort for your child, while no safety deficiencies can be found. The wheelbase is sufficient to prevent tipping over even on fast journeys. The low center of gravity is also conducive to road holding. The weight of 14 kg is easy to move and even with the maximum load of an additional 35 kg the car is very agile. The clutch works and with hard braking it fulfills its purpose. The only thing to complain about is that there is no handbrake on the push handle. This would be a successful addition to the overall very sporty design.

Nevertheless, the kid has a parking brake

The Croozer Kid has a parking brake at the rear of the car, but it is somewhat impractical to operate with your foot. If we had something to complain about, it would be this shortcoming. But this does not affect the great tracking of the model and the lightness that it shows when pulling. As a 3 in 1 set, we also tested the handling of the jogger and the buggy.

buggy & jogger

The buggy wheel is movable and quickly assembled

That a buggy wheel is included is a great option, but here too the usability is limited. In the case of very bumpy ground such as cobblestones or coarse gravel, the wheel starts to shake and the car gets slightly restless. If this gets too much on the wrists or prevents your child from sleeping, the front wheel can be locked for a slight improvement. Then the car has to be raised for curves, but the option is successful and therefore the buggy wheel Naturally a useful alternative. But we like the jogger version better:

The 16 inch jogger wheel

The jogger works very well and will please sporty parents. The assembly is also a bit complex here and with frequent changes between the sets, one or the other screw has to be turned, but once assembled, the third pneumatic tire fulfills its purpose with flying colors. The kid can be pushed super easily over all surfaces and hardly deviates from his path. A great idea to include such a bike!

roof

The top is very flexible at the front, unfortunately the sides have no options

The soft top is very flexible, especially on the front. With an insect screen, sun protection or completely closing it off from the rain, it offers all the necessary options. It is a pity that the sides do not have louvers. The canopy behind the seat can be opened to allow air to pass through.

quality & safety

The belt is extremely secure and outshines many systems

We really liked the belt. Based on a classic 5-point harness system, the meeting point in the middle is also equipped with a kind of cushion that makes it even easier to carry. The straps are adjustable in length and shoulder pads protect your child from rubbing. The head cushion is useful, it is a pity that it has no lateral "ears" to prevent strong head movements. The opened frame takes over this protective function. Your child sits well between the limits and therefore has no chance of being moved too much on strong curves. Only the upholstery of the seat suffers slightly from the folding system, so you can feel the bars on the sides minimally. Nevertheless, the seat is absolutely successful and lets your child sit comfortably and safely in the bike trailer. The picture that the jogger wheel takes a closer look also shows two light reflectors ("cat eyes") which are aligned frontally and the reflective tire wall. As a result, the car is difficult to miss and night trips are safe. The aluminum housing is designed very securely on all four sides and the frame protects your child very well from every side. TÜV Rheinland certified the car with the Toxproof seal. So there are no pollutants in the materials.

Conclusion

The Croozer Kid demonstrates sportiness and stability, coupled with great compatibility. There are only a few small things that we see, for example the folding system of the seat. It does fold the car extremely compact, which makes it very easy to take with you when you travel. However, handling during assembly and the upholstery of the seat suffer as a result. However, this is hardly worth mentioning. A big plus is the jogger bike, which ensures sporty parents every kind of sport with their children. The driving style and frame of the car are also great. If you are looking for something sporty that has many options, you are very well advised with the Croozer Kid. With a price of around € 600, the associated performance is definitely given!

Croozer K >

Extremely compact bike trailer with great driving style and perfect handling.

Who should buy the Croozer Kid??

The Croozer Kid is an excellent choice for sporty parents who want to take their children with them. The Croozer can be used ideally thanks to the practical jogger wheel.
