Guide to Cybex car seats

Child seats with push messages to the smartphone

Strengthen

  1. good and partly cheap Child seats for every age group
  2. wide range of impact and i-size seats with high levels of protection
  3. "SensorSafe" sends installation and pause warnings to the connected mobile phone
  4. Cloud baby car seats Q and Z i-Size can be folded out to form a horizontal bed

weaknesses

  1. ADAC: Parents should not rely solely on the warning system
  2. Installation of the associated app required numerous access rights
  3. no baby seats with lying position available while driving

With Isofix "very good", with the adult belt hardly any worse: The Cybex Juno 2-Fix safety body seat is very easy to install and offers the child plenty of space. In the test, it exceeds all expectations. "The best for toddlers" says the magazine test. (Image source: amazon.de)

How does the Stiftung Warentest child seats from Cybex evaluate?

Please take care: You can only use the currently sold Juno 2-Fix in combination with a seat belt and Isofix. Exclusive installation with the three-point belt is no longer possible.

Good for baby’s spine: a baby seat, the back of which can be folded out into a horizontal bed. It’s just a shame that models like the Cybex Cloud Z i-Size are only suitable for lying outside the car. Attempts to develop good baby seats with a lying position while driving have so far only been successful by Kiddy. (Image source: cybex-online.de)

A clean thing: Cybex child seats mostly without critical finds

High-tech packages from Cybex: baby car seats with a lying position, rotation mechanisms, safety gear

The best in their class: Cybex baby car seats with a lying position

  • A good 1.7

  • A good 1.7

  • A good 1.8

But Cybex also maintains an appearance that is impressive. With flat lying positions in the cloud baby car seats for example or that Alarm system SensorSafe, with which the company literally advanced in terms of security and put together a whole high-tech package. You have to pay a really peppered price for the radical version of such a Bluetooth child seat – the Cloud Z i-Size infant carrier including SensorSafe costs around 310 euros; However, these seats are interesting for forgetful people and parents who want to use a connected emergency system to eliminate all risks. In fact, the system receives a lot of positive reactions from the testers, but it also receives criticism. The ADAC child seat testers, for example, are critical of the fact that

  • extensive permissions would have to be granted to install the app
  • the alarm systems cannot be retrofitted and can therefore only be bought together with a new seat
  • Parents could rely too much on the alarm system
  • some clear feedback on the system status was missing
  • Retrofit systems for voluntary installation not permitted changes on the child seat, which change the ECE approval of the seat or even completely expire

An urgent appeal from the ADAC to parents is therefore never to leave children alone in the car – not even for short stops or if you have parked your car in the shade. Heat can build up too quickly. This is particularly dangerous for small children!

In Italy, the system is mandatory at the end of 2019, in Germany it is currently only optionally available from Cybex or Chicco: alarm systems such as SensorSafe, which sends a warning to the smartphone via Bluetooth if something is wrong with the seat. (Image source: cybex-online.de)
