Dental Implants: Costs, Manufacturers, Experiences and Treatment

Everything about dental implants

There are certainly many questions that you would like clarified if you lose one or more teeth and this through Dental implants wants to replace it. We offer you a comprehensive introduction so that as far as possible none of the frequently asked questions remain open.

But first and foremost to show that it is in the tooth implantation is a tried and tested, safe routine procedure that allows you to go through everyday life without compromise and unpleasant limitations with a quality of life that is by no means an unattainable dream.

tooth loss is nowhere near as tragic as it looks. Dentistry knows the perfect, completely painless solution for effectively replacing missing teeth with dental implants. Risking the judgment "lifelong", you have only positive prospects in this context.

Proof of this is more than 500,000 patients opting for dental implantation around the world each year. And if they are satisfied with the result? The success rate of over 97% is extremely remarkable.

What is a dental implant?

Dental implants replace lost teeth – but how does it work? The dentist places the implant body exactly in the tooth gap that remains after tooth loss, and on the, in the jaw bone screwed implant, which replaces the lost tooth root, the stable, esthetic and functional dentures is placed.

Dental implantology is an integral part of dentistry and the placement of dental implants is now considered a routine procedure, and at the same time as the best way to correct missing teeth.

Dental implants are ideal for a single tooth loss, but even a pronounced tooth loss to complete edentulousness can be a thing of the past thanks to the dental implantology.

The finished dentures provides a significant increase in quality of life: you no longer need to be ashamed of his smile and inhibitions in chewing, but can finally enjoy the food again, carefree conversations and everyday life, and even laugh at ease.

10 years ago I got an implant at the dental clinic Gelencser in Heviz.

Before, during and after inserting the implant, I received excellent treatment and felt in good hands. I remember, my implant was used around noon. I was given an ice pack in the clinic. I chilled over the afternoon and went out for dinner (!). Someone who did not know me did not notice the dental implant insertion the same day: no big cheeks, no bruises.

For a few days, the implant was treated with a laser. Best of all, when I returned to work after a week, I met my department head. This one had the whole face half and the neck blue. I asked him what had happened: he had an implant inserted on the same day as I did, but in Munich. He could not believe that nothing was seen with me.

I have the implant for 10 years now, and I have never had a problem with it.

Many thanks for everything! I have often praised and recommended you.

Dental implants have the huge advantage of preventing bone loss by directing the masticatory forces directly to the jawbone.

That’s why dentists can not stress enough how important it is to get rid of lost teeth as quickly as possible, as delaying this or not even initiating it may lead to serious health consequences is.

One of these unpleasant consequences is that the chewing load, which is no longer present due to tooth loss, leads to the regression of the edentulous jawbone. However, this destructive process is uniquely hampered by the insertion of dental implants.

How is a dental implant constructed??

A dental implant is a complex piece of craftsmanship that consists of several perfectly matched parts:

1. implant body – The part inserted in the jawbone, quasi the ‘actual’ implant, which takes over the task of an artificial tooth root

2nd post – Connector between implant body and artificial tooth crown

3. artificial tooth crown – the visible, artificial tooth ‘, which is perfectly adapted in shape and color to the natural teeth

4. Fixing screw – To attach the artificial tooth crown to the post

This modular design allows the combination of different, each optimally tailored to the needs of the patient items. Thus, a nearly perfectly personalized dental implant is composed of standard elements.

Another advantage of multi-part implants is the improved healing process: In the first step, only the implant body is used. The overlying gingiva is re-sutured so that during the healing phase no part of the implant protrudes beyond the gum and thus is not loaded (eg when chewing). Thus, the implant body can grow together completely undisturbed with the surrounding jawbone.

What does a dental implant consist of??

A dental implant was – see above – a multi-part system. The materials used for the individual parts are optimally matched to their intended use.

Titanium: This metal is indispensable in modern medicine. It is characterized by a particularly high strength at low density, which means it is stable and at the same time unusually light for a metal. In addition, titanium is extremely corrosion-resistant and anti-allergenic, which justifies its suitability as a biomaterial (ie use in direct contact with the body tissue of humans).

  • Thanks to the external titanium oxide layer, the material can be firmly embedded in the natural bone (osseointegration). Titanium therefore forms the preferred material for implant bodies and posts.

Zirconium oxide or zirconium oxide: This high performance ceramic is sometimes referred to as “ceramic steel”. Also this material is very corrosion resistant and break resistant. In addition, it is metal-free, which can be particularly beneficial for allergy sufferers and rheumatics.

  • Implant body made of zirconium oxide: If the implant is used at a site with very thin gum coverage (especially in the anterior and canine area), the non-metallic, tooth-colored impression of the implant body is visually advantageous. Due to the surface structure, ingrowth into the jawbone takes longer than with titanium surfaces. In addition, zirconium oxide implant bodies are more likely to develop inflammatory processes which, in the worst case, can lead to the loss of the implant. Zirconia implants are therefore less common than titanium implants, which also results in less choice of structures. Another disadvantage is the higher cost of the material.
  • Artificial tooth crowns made of zirconium oxide: zirconium oxide has a permanent place in dental implantology as a material for the artificial tooth crown. The crown is made either in full ceramic or metal with ceramic coating (veneer crown). It is perfectly matched in form and color to the neighboring natural teeth, which serves on the one hand the optics and on the other the undisturbed chewing function.

Plastic: The use of plastic as a material for the artificial crown of the dental implant is still in its infancy. Previous plastics have not been able to prevail in terms of breaking strength, abrasion and long-term aesthetic appeal. However, the development of plastic-ceramic compounds such as PEEK (polyetheretherketone) appears promising and may possibly provide a new material option in the future.

We have summarized the most important information and the answers to the frequently asked questions. These are the 16 most important things you need to know about the dental implants as a patient:

1. What do dental implants cost??

The prices of dental implants can vary widely from country to country and even from clinic to clinic.

However, the general trend shows that prices in Western Europe even exceed twice the Hungarian prices, which means that patients from the German-speaking world Compared to the domestic costs 50-70% in a Hungarian dental clinic can save.

Dental implant manufacturer SGS: from 500 EUR
Dental implant manufacturer Camlog: from 850 EUR
Dental implant manufacturer Straumann: from 1000 EUR
Dental implant manufacturer Nobel Biocare: from 1000 EUR
Dental implant construction system: from 150 EUR

We will gladly provide you with an exact treatment and cost plan based on a current x-ray or as a counter-offer to the cost plan of your dentist.

The costs of a dental implantation are influenced by the following factors:

  • Brand product of the implant manufacturer
  • Particular characteristics of the product (special or conventional, for example, in Nobel products CC is more expensive than Tapered)
  • Operating costs
  • Additional costs (possibly bone structure)
  • Material of the implant

By comparing the prices you can convince yourself that you even get dental treatment in Hungary save up to 70%!

From the savings you can then treat yourself to the holiday.

At our dental clinic, dental implants from the premium category (Nobel ↗, Straumann ↗), as well as better value for money (SGS ↗, Camlog ↗) are immediately available.

Furthermore, so-called mini implants (MDI ↗) are offered, which offer the ideal solution for the corresponding attachment of the prosthesis even in elderly patients with poor bone supply.

2. How are dental implants used?

The insertion of the dental implant is preceded by careful planning and investigation to accurately determine the appropriate site for the artificial tooth root.

Dental implants can only be used in the jawbone, therefore, before the individual treatment plan is created, a physical examination, complemented by a state-of-the-art, three-dimensional computed tomography image recording required.

On the one hand, the patient is questioned during the physical examination according to his state of health and the personal medical history, on the other hand, the dentist examines the entire oral cavity.

On the subsequent CT scan, the most accurate measurements can be used to determine if the patient has the required bone volume for implantation.

Of the 3D CT, Also known as a digital volume tomograph, it is, in principle, a professional imaging diagnostic procedure that enables three-dimensional, tenth-of-a-millimeter recordings.

These shots can be rotated in any direction, so that the entire oral cavity can be thoroughly examined from all perspectives before the actual procedure.

If the jaw bones prove high and wide enough, the dentist has the assurance that the dental implant can be used.

The therapy plan can be created individually with knowledge of all necessary circumstances and discussed with the patient, whereby one must also address the possible questions and clarify them.

The implantation of the dental implant takes place in a sterile environment, under total anesthesia and is one of the daily routine interventions in which the specialists of the Dental Clinic Gelencsér ↗ have many years of experience.

After inserting the implant heals this under the gums for another 3-6 months, before it is finally resilient.

During this healing period, the implant surface grows together with the bone tissue, creating a connection that is so strong that it does not even affect one’s own teeth.

3. How painful is the insertion of the dental implant?

Before the procedure, the patient receives a syringe for pain relief to completely numb the site.

Dental Clinic Gelencsér Dental has committed to pain-free treatments that are considered to be the basic patient expectation in the 21st century.

At our dental clinic will be exclusively Even the injection technique is painless, as the pain at the injection site is eliminated by surface anesthetics.

During the procedure, the sensation of pain is completely eliminated, so you should be equipped with painkillers at most on the following days.

The unpleasant tension pain is only temporary, the self-dissolving threads are gone in a few weeks, you can entgegenfiebern pain and drugs free the second phase of treatment, in which the final dentures is completed.

4. Is there a maximum of tooth loss that can be replaced with dental implants?

Dental Implants are not only a safe and effective way to replace missing teeth, they are also the ultimate universal solution: they can support individual crowns or bridges, but even a prosthesis (bar or telescope).

One has to imagine under the helical dental implant an artificial tooth root, which is used instead of the lost tooth in the jawbone. This is to say the foundation – on it the prosthetic abutment, the visible dentures attached.

For dental crowns and bridges, the dentists use a connecting element for each dental implant, which, like the ground tooth stump on the original tooth, connects the implant body to the new visible denture.

Even if all teeth are missing, a full bridge comes into question, supported by 8 dental implants, but there is already an alternative based on scientific long-term research, the so-called All-On-4 or All-On-6 method.

The All-On-4 Solution ↗ are 4 dental implants that are inserted into the jawbone in a special way and angle. This also requires a special (multi-unit) abutment, which provides for appropriate angle correction for the conventional dentures.

Although the pertinent studies report outstanding results, in reality, All-On-4 or All-On-6 is ideal only for those who no longer have sufficient bone to stabilize a full bridge on 8 implants.

The method developed by the Portuguese Paulo Malo and further developed by Nobel offers at most a possible alternative for the restoration in the upper jaw, because in this area often not enough dental implants can be used because of the shape of the facial cavity.

And should someone have even less bone supply, The prosthesis fixed on 4 dental implants in the anterior region offers itself, that does not wobble while talking or eating.

This so-called bridge prosthesis ↗ owes its tremendous popularity of its effectiveness: The stable anchoring of a full denture can be ensured by a bridge, which connects the individual implants as a locked unit, and the only safest technique is that the prosthesis does not even under load emotional.

The result is the long-awaited dream of many patients: to shine again over both ears, chew unchecked and enjoy an improved quality of life.

5. What are the benefits of a dental implant?

The modern dental implant is rightly considered the royal road of modern dentistry when it comes to closing a tooth gap. Compared to alternative dentures – crown, bridge or denture – the implant has significant advantages, both from the point of view of the dentist and the patient.

From a dental point of view Dental implants are characterized by the following aspects:

  • Protection against a breakdown of the jawbone (the load of the artificial tooth root ‘trains’ and preserves the bone substance)
  • Possibility of closing individual tooth spaces without impairment (especially grinding for attachment of a bridge) of adjacent natural teeth.
  • Possibility of closing larger gaps in the teeth, which are unsuitable for bridges (in particular the use of implants as artificial ‘bridge piers’)
  • Possibility of completing shortened rows of teeth (free end situation, without potential ‘bridge pillars’)
  • Possibility of reconstruction of completely edentulous jaws (in combination of 6-8 implants and bridges)

From the patient’s point of view In particular, the following arguments for dental implants are mentioned:

  • deceptively real look, with no visible difference to the natural teeth
  • natural chewing, laughter and speech (after the healing period, the implant can be loaded just like a natural tooth, no wobbling and slipping, no fear of falling out of the prosthesis, etc.)
  • Longevity of the implant

6. What are the disadvantages of a dental implant?

In the vernacular, it is often said that there is “no rose without thorns” – and from a medical point of view, there is hardly a procedure that would have only advantages and not a single disadvantage. This also applies to dental implants, so of course we would like to inform you about the adverse aspects so that you can make a well-informed decision:

Costs: Dental implants are more expensive than other forms of dentures. This is due to the sophisticated construction and the necessary surgical intervention. The consideration of whether the implant is worth its price, every human must meet in person. The lifetime of the implant as well as the functional and optical advantage play a role here: the more visible the gap to be closed and the more important the individual external effect, the more often – according to our experience – the decision in favor of an implant is lost.

Need for an OP: To insert the implant, the gum and jawbone must be surgically opened. This procedure, like any surgery, involves surgical risks. In addition, there is the risk of wound healing disorders and problems with ingrowth of the implant (especially in smokers). Therefore you will receive detailed advice in our practice before the procedure. Extensive preliminary examinations, the use of state-of-the-art technology and the experience of our physicians help to reduce operating risks as much as possible.

Time required: After the first procedure for inserting the implant body, a healing period of 3-6 months is required before the artificial dental crown is put on. This healing period ensures the firm anchoring in the jawbone and thus the later capacity of the ‘artificial tooth’. In order to visually close the gap in the meantime, a temporary prosthesis can be made.

Use only if certain conditions are met: The successful insertion of an implant first and foremost requires a stable jawbone – if this is not the case, bone-building measures may help. In addition, there is an increased risk of complications in certain diseases and / or in the regular use of certain medications, so that the use of a dental implant is discouraged. These include u.a. Periodontitis Diabetes, diabetes, blood coagulation disorders, leukemia, immune deficiencies and addictions, especially drug addiction.

Risk of peri-implantitis: With regular individual and professional oral care and a good general condition, a dental implant can last a lifetime. With poor oral hygiene and a deterioration of health, especially due to inflammatory diseases, but there is a risk of peri-implantitis. This is an inflammatory disease in the immediate vicinity of the implant – first on the gingival margin, then progressing on the periodontium and jawbone. If the peri-implantitis is not treated properly, the loss of the implant threatens.

7. What are the prerequisites for a successful dental implantation??

The successful implant treatment has some general requirements:

  • Sufficient bone supply in the jaw (wide and high enough) and good bone quality
  • Readiness for perfect oral hygiene
  • Good general condition

Two of these factors can help: Bone substitutes can be relied on in most cases, and oral hygiene depends solely on the patient.

However, there are also contraindications and risk factors that affect the success of implant treatment:

  • Certain diseases (blood disorders, blood coagulation disorders, poorly adjusted diabetes, cancers)
  • Heavy bite disorders
  • Addictions (drug addiction, heavy alcohol and nicotine consumption)
  • Age (not under 18 years)
  • Inadequate oral hygiene and insufficient bone supply in the jaw

8. Immediate implantation and mini-implants

Immediate implantation is the procedure in which the dental implant is placed in the same session with the tooth removal (or at most 1-2 days later, ie “late”). However, this requires appropriate anatomical aspects, good general condition and excellent bone quality.

In this case, it is not just bone height and width that matter, but the quality of the bone substance is crucial. Note that after tooth removal, there is only one hole left in the jawbone instead of the tooth root, and in case of a possible cyst, there is also inflammation exactly where the dental implant is inserted.

If the bone at the site of the intervention is not stable enough for immediate implantation, it is in the patient’s own interest to wait 2-4 months for the jawbone to completely regenerate.

Even more risky is the so-called immediate load ↗ (immediate load implant). With this method you get after the immediate implantation even the finished dentures.

Specialists in the Gelencsér Dental Clinic advocate safe, risk-free solutions and only rarely perform immediate implantation, under the strict condition that bone availability, bone width, bone height and bone quality are in all respects appropriate.

We generally advise against the immediate loading method because of the increased risk of implant loss.

9. What are the risks of implantation??

Based on several decades of research and the experience of millions of patients, dental implantation is undoubtedly a safe and risk-free treatment.

For a lasting success, however, the correspondingly good general condition of the patient and his willingness to a satisfactory oral and implant care are required.

The statistical success rate of dental implants is 97%, and since the implants used are made of pure titanium, one does not have to fear allergic reactions as a patient. Titanium ↗ does not cause any chemical reactions with body fluids and does not affect the immune system, so lost teeth can be replaced with no risk at all by these biocompatible, tissue-friendly dental implants.

10. Can the implant treatment be done under anesthesia??

Unfortunately, there are still many patients today who have an indomitable fear of dental treatment. Fortunately, however, these anxious patients can simply sleep through their implant treatment.

After a condition assessment by trained anesthesiologists will determine if all the conditions for anesthesia ↗ are fulfilled.

For dental treatment, so-called anesthesia is preferred. This modern procedure puts the patient in a state of twilight sleep. In contrast to intubated general anesthesia, the central nervous system is medically attenuated, to the extent that the patient is still conscious, but in one state, completely free of pain, anxiety and stress.

Operational anesthesia is initiated, maintained and discontinued at the end of the procedure by anesthetists.

11. When is bone replacement or sinus lift required??

Without adequate bone volume, dental implantation can not be performed – this is always the top priority for implant treatment.

Modern dentistry has also found an adequate and safe solution to this problem.

Through targeted bone formation ↗, the required increase in bone volume can be achieved to enable tooth implantation.

There are different bone formation methods:

  • Bone block transplantation (self-bone, which is taken in another area of the jaw)
  • Bone substitute material (synthetic or natural origin, bone-forming self-cells and blood vessels grow in and form living bone)
  • Sinus lift – elevation of the floor of the maxillary sinus (in the maxillary posterior area, the maxillary sinus is filled with bone substitute material)

From the above it follows that the implantation in the upper and lower jaw has certain differences.

In the lower jaw, only a few implants that are able to provide a stable hold for a full bridge can be sufficient – in contrast to the usual 8 implants in the upper jaw, 6 may also be sufficient here.

The other fundamental difference arises from the nature of the maxillary sinus. If molars are removed in the upper jaw, the sinus floor tends to sink: the bone gradually becomes thinner and the maxillary sinus spreads in the direction of the anterior teeth.

If, as a result, the side area where once the molars were located can not be used for the implantation of teeth, then full bridges can no longer be considered a solution.

To overcome this problem, the method of sinus lift was developed by first lifting the mucous membrane of the facial cavity and then filling the resulting cavity with bone substitute material.

The introduced substances are replaced in the healing time by self-bone, so that the bone volume reaches the desired parameters and the implantation can be made.

12. How long does a dental implant last??

Dental implantology is now looking up: Since the 1980s, millions of dental implants have been used worldwide – and successfully! Scientific studies on the lifetime of dental implants have shown that 90% of implants in the lower jaw and 80-85% of implants in the upper jaw are functional even 10 years after their onset.

If implants are lost, this usually happens in the first few months after surgery. However, once the healing phase is over, the long life of the implant is usually in the way.

The life of a dental implant does not relate to the material, but to how long it stays in the jawbone.

With good oral hygiene and a good general condition, a dental implant can last a lifetime.

The best example of this is the very first dental implant patient, the Swedish Gösta Larsson, who suffered from congenital jaw deformities and chronic edentulousness.

The titanium implants used in 1965 proved their service for over 40 years, until his death.

Even after ten years, the success rate is over 95%, but in risk patients such as heavy smokers, for example, the risk of loss is considerably greater.

We at the Gelencsér Dental Dental Clinic are convinced that The life of a properly inserted dental implant is in many ways highly dependent on the patient. We also like to tell you what is important to note:

  • Careful oral hygiene
  • Take regular control appointments
  • Waiver of cigarettes
  • Abandonment of harmful stimulants (alcohol and drug use)

None of this is impossible, or?

13. Why is it worth traveling to Hungary for dental implants??

Patients at the Dental Clinic Gelencsér Dental have three main reasons:

  • cheaper prices
  • usual West European quality
  • high holiday factor

German prices often amount to more than double from the Hungarian prices, patients treated in Hungary (according to the same EU quality standards as in Germany, by the way) can go up to Save 50-70%.

The more extensive the therapy, the higher is the subsidy from the health insurance, which opens the difference gap even further.

A strict quality assurance system, as well as constant developments, ensure that patients from the German-speaking countries in Hungary receive quality as well as at home.

A comfortable environment, a relaxed atmosphere and everything that dental high-tech has to offer awaits you at our dental clinic:

At the same time, Hévíz has a lot to offer with its wellness and wellness options. With more than one million guest nights a year, Hévíz is the most popular tourist destination in Hungary, just behind Budapest. From Germany you can even land after a 2-hour charter flight on the Hévíz-Balaton Airport.

More than three hundred thousand guests from Germany only enjoy every year what the unique thermal lake has to offer – healing cures, wellness offers, complemented by professional and inexpensive dental services.

14. How are dental implantations in Hungary subsidized by German health insurances?

Among other things, our dental clinic is under contract with Techniker Krankenkasse ↗, the largest health insurance company in Germany.

Thanks to the daily work routine, our employees can quickly obtain the consent of the health insurance fund to the planned therapy plan, so that if the answer is positive after a consultation between the dentist and the patient, the agreed treatment can be started immediately.

The long-term, smooth cooperation has helped hundreds of German patients to pay only their own share in the billing.

The fixed subsidy set by the Techniker Krankenkasse will not be billed to the patient, because all organizational matters will be handled directly between the health fund and our dental clinic.

Not only is it effective and fast, it also makes saving transparent and tangible.

The German health insurances do not participate in dental implant costs, that is, only the dental prosthesis (dental crowns, dental bridges, prostheses) that is attached to the implants is subsidized.

15. What guarantee is there on dental implants?

We even give you the warranty conditions in writing – we offer you not only on the dental implants warranty, but also on the prosthetic benefits as follows:

  • 5 years – on the construction parts of dental implants
  • 3 years – on metal-ceramic and zirconium crowns ↗
  • 1 year – on full dentures

However, the guarantee can only be asserted if certain conditions have been met:

  • You have to appear for annual check-ups, either at our cooperation partners in Austria, Germany, South Tyrol or Switzerland, or free at our dental clinic. In both cases, we ask for an appointment directly at our dental clinic in Hévíz
  • The health of the patient and his oral hygiene can severely affect the result, which of course the dentist can provide no guarantee

16. How to care for dental implants?

You can only enjoy your dental implants for a lifetime if you look after them properly, because careful oral hygiene and dental care are not only essential for our real teeth.

Brushing teeth twice a day, using floss and an interdental toothbrush to clean the interdental spaces is the least we can do.

Why is this required for dentures?

Many patients are of the opinion that dental care is not so important when you have dental implants – tooth decay, tartar and gingivitis only endanger living teeth.

Dental caries can not actually cause tooth decay, but calculus can cause gingivitis, and this inflammation of the gums spreads in the form of periodontitis, even if you only have dental implants and dentures in your mouth.

In the case of inadequate oral hygiene der the tartar itself does not stop at the dentures: it adheres to the prosthesis, to the crowns of the teeth, and also gets into the tiny niches between the gums and dentures.

Similar to the inflammation of the dental bed, it can also lead to inflammation of the implant bed. The inflammatory process, which begins with plaque deposits on the dental implant, is called peri-implantitis.

Declines in mucous membrane and bone ultimately lead to implant loss.

At our dental clinic After each treatment, you will be thoroughly informed about how to further improve your oral hygiene, and we also recommend you suitable products.

Our team does its best to ensure that our patients not only get a nice new smile, but that they can keep it for a long time.

Implant supplies are cheaper than you think, and are considered absolute permanent solution.
