Dental implants Munich

So that you can bite powerfully again!

Lost teeth can now be perfectly replaced with artificial tooth roots (dental implants) and a fixed tooth crown. A bridge for which neighboring teeth bordering on the tooth gap must be ground is thus avoidable. Teeth at risk of breakage can also be relieved by neighboring dental implants. This means that they are retained for significantly longer. Placing a removable prosthesis can also be avoided by placing dental implants. The quality of life is significantly increased by the "firm bite". Dental implants ensure the same chewing behavior as natural, firm teeth. Patients who have problems with loose prostheses can get a secure bite feeling and thus significantly better quality of life with dental implants.

Dr. Tomas Hoischen will be happy to advise you personally.

What is a dental implant??

Dental implants are artificial tooth roots made of titanium or ceramic. If a natural tooth is so badly damaged that it has to be removed, it can be replaced with a dental implant. The human body accepts titanium dental implants and integrates them into the jawbone. After a healing period (between 6 weeks and 6 months) they can be stressed.

Which dentists are qualified to use dental implants?

Dr. Rudolf Hocheneder and Dr. Tomas Hoischen both developed the certified focus of their work in the field of implantology (certified by the EDA – European Dental Association and the BDIZ (Association of German Implantology Dentists).

Dental implants have been used as standard in our dental practice in Munich since 1993. We take all steps of the treatment from a single source – no previous surgery is required for the oral surgeon. The removal of the tooth, the insertion of the dental implant and the provision of temporary dentures (with the help of the practice’s own dental laboratory) can often be done in just a 1-2 hour session. You never leave our dental practice without provisional teeth and are therefore fully socially acceptable at all times.

Training events on the subject of dental implants for interested colleagues

We have been with the company since 1997 Nobel Biocare, one of the leading manufacturers of dental implants worldwide, working as a speaker and trainer for dentists. For interested dentists, we organize further training twice a year in our dental practice in Munich. With this Intensive Operationskurs Techniques for the insertion of dental implants, sinus lift and bone build-up, dentures on dental implants, treatment of inflammation on implants (peri-implantitis surgery) and optimization of the gums are shown. Our training courses in the dental practice in Munich can be requested directly from us in the practice or through Nobel Biocare.

How can dental implants heal more safely, quickly and painlessly?

As one of only a few dental practices in Munich, we offer you the patented endoret R treatment from BTI Biotechnologie Institute. The so-called PRGF method (plasma rich in growth factors) is the body’s own, growth factor-rich blood plasma, which is obtained 100% from a small amount of the patient’s own blood. We have been using this recognized regenerative procedure routinely for every dental implant surgery since 2001.

The patient benefits from these scientifically proven advantages:

  • Significantly faster wound healing
  • Less pain
  • Less swelling
  • Safe healing of the dental implants in the bone (osseointegration)
  • Faster resilience of the dental implants

This innovative procedure is also used in other areas of medicine where safe tissue regeneration is important (traumatology, orthopedics, dermatology, ophthalmology). However, it may only be used in specially trained practices.

Questions about dental implants

What is an immediate implant? How does it differ from a conventional dental implant?

For the placement of dental implants, we have preferred the system of immediate implantation in conjunction with the body’s own growth factors (endoret R / PRGF) for more than 25 years..

Your advantages with this procedure are:

  • Jaw bones are preserved as best as possible
  • Only a single surgical intervention is necessary
  • If the bone is strong enough, immediate restoration with a fixed temporary restoration
  • Immediate sociability

Immediate implantation removes teeth that cannot be preserved and replaces them with dental implants in the same session. This eliminates additional operations for the patient. The patient leaves the practice after about 1-2 hours.

In contrast to this, in the conventional procedure, after the tooth has been removed, the healing process of the bone, which takes several months, is only waited for and then the dental implant is inserted in a second surgical procedure. The disadvantage of the patient here is that an open wound occurs when the teeth are removed. Here, jaw bones and soft tissue are lost. Lost tissue has to be laboriously rebuilt later – often multiple operations are required.

With an immediate implant, the wounds are largely closed again at the same time as the tooth is removed by the implant. The wound area is significantly reduced and postoperative complaints less or hardly present! A second intervention for the placement of the dental implants is completely unnecessary. The treatment is also reduced by the time required for the wound to heal after tooth extraction, since the dental implant can already grow in place during this time. It is our decision as an experienced implantologist whether an immediate implant is possible – we can individually assess a possible risk. With the right planning, the success rate of immediate implants is comparable to dental implants in the conventional procedure. The costs are often lower because there is no need for complex additional operations.

In what situations can teeth be replaced by dental implants??

Regardless of whether only a single tooth is missing, several teeth have been lost or the entire jaw is toothless: Dental implants are suitable for any type of tooth loss. It also generally doesn’t matter how long a tooth has been missing: even after a long time, the artificial tooth roots can still be inserted into the jawbone.

However, it is important that non-functional bones degrade over time. Or to put it simply: the earlier the implants are inserted, the more bone can be preserved. In turn, more bone means greater stability and longer durability for the dental implants. We therefore recommend placing dental implants as soon as possible after tooth loss.

Dental implants are suitable for every patient?

Basically there are hardly any unsuitable patients.

Dental implants should not be placed in children with incomplete growth, since, unlike natural teeth, they do not "grow" with the jaw. The growth was completed between the ages of 18 and 21 – generally a little earlier for girls than for boys.

Few serious diseases that affect bone growth or the ability of the bone to regenerate can speak against treatment with dental implants. However, these diseases are extremely rare.

If you are concerned that a dental implant is not the right solution for you, we would be happy to discuss this with you personally. Based on your medical data, a precise risk assessment is carried out and discussed in detail with you.

What type of dentures fit on dental implants? Where is the denture made??

We strive for fixed dentures in our practice whenever possible! This corresponds to a natural feeling of chewing. Fixed constructions are cemented or screwed onto the dental implants in the form of tooth crowns and bridges, which are then cared for like natural teeth. Our dental technology work is often done by us own dental laboratory in the dental practice. We also work with leading dental technicians in Munich. Direct contact with the dental technician is of crucial importance, especially when it comes to dentures – the color, shape, position of the teeth and the individual wishes of our patients can be taken into account.

If the motor skills are limited, the amount of bone available is limited, or if the financial budget is limited, the dental technician can also produce a cheaper, removable prosthesis instead of a fixed construction. This prosthesis can be removed for cleaning. Because it is supported on dental implants, the prosthesis has a significantly better hold than a mucosa-supported prosthesis.

We would be happy to explain the various options for your specific case and also calculate the cost differences. Make an appointment for a personal consultation in our dental practice.

What is the procedure when placing dental implants??

The procedure for dental implants is not uniform – it is always based on the individual patient case. However, certain steps are similar. Thorough planning is always required before treatment. The initial situation is precisely analyzed based on the examination of the patient, tooth models and an exact x-ray image or a 3D scan of the jawbones. Possible risks when placing the dental implant are assessed, neighboring structures (e.g. vessels, nerves, maxillary sinus floor) are identified and a safety distance to them is determined. The position, the length and the width of the dental implants are then determined. Before the operation, we produce an implant template in our practice laboratory in Munich, which enables us to position the dental implants precisely during the operation.

The implants are placed directly in our dental practice – a stay in a dental clinic is not necessary.

Thanks to effective local anesthesia, the procedure is painless for our patients. The implant is inserted into the jawbone after making a small hole. The process is comparable to inserting a dowel into the wall – the dimensions of the dental implant and the necessary hole are significantly smaller! Since the process is accompanied by medication, it is almost painless.
