Dental practice Aneliya and Norbert Schulz | Nuremberg-Altenfurt

"We put a lot of emphasis on gathering a lot of CEREC experience even before it was founded."

Aneliya and Norbert Schulz:
"On July 1, 2013, we set up our own practice in Nuremberg-Altenfurt and from the beginning we knew that we wanted to build up our entire practice concept around CEREC."

Interview with Aneliya and Norbert Schulz

In Altenfurt, about eight kilometers from Nuremberg, Aneliya and Norbert Schulz found their luck. “We looked at the practice and knew immediately, That should be it ‘. Critical to the selection were the patients, because every dentist has ‘his’ patients. Therefore, it was important for us to know who is going in and out. After all, the chemistry must be right on both sides, “says Aneliya Schulz. In the choice of practice, married couple Schulz had deliberately opted for a takeover. The reasons were, among other things, the enormously high rental prices of the properties in Nuremberg, but also the still noticeable effects of the banking crisis. It raises the question for everyone how best to invest their money. Norbert Schulz explains: “It was obvious to invest in our own practice because we have the necessary know-how to run a practice.” At the beginning of April, they both received a concrete offer for practice in Altenfurt. “We only had one week to decide. Of course, that’s not much, considering that you are making a very high investment. In the end, we decided on the practice, “says Aneliya Schulz. Then everything went very fast: The handover of the practice took place on 15 June 2013, and at the same time should then start the conversion. In just two weeks, the practice was renovated and equipped with new equipment and new decoration.

In the planning, the dental couple relied, among other things, on the expertise of Henry Schein and their partners: Starting with the disassembly of old equipment, the laying of connections to comprehensive advice, planning and reinstalling the equipment, everything had to be perfectly planned and thought out his. In order to enable the best possible use of space, the practice plan had to be optimized. Thus, the space for a third treatment room, a laboratory and a new sterilization room was created. This was made possible by the reduction of two large treatment rooms. However, not the entire practice was turned around, but at one point or another only a little “refreshing work” made. The hall and the reception are now adorned with modern designer lamps, the old floor has been torn out and replaced by a new one. “Compared to a complete refurbishment, we have made a huge difference here with relatively little effort,” says a delighted Norbert Schulz. Henry Schein is already well-known to Norbert Schulz since his studies at the Friedrich Alexander University in Erlangen. “It was about the ninth semester when the company offered a cheap shopping opportunity for us students with the opening of the Uni-Shop. The seller in the shop was very courteous, competently advised and the products were sold at a fair and reasonable price – that was not a given at the time. Of course, remembering that as a student helps you keep that in mind, “he likes to recall.

Just under 120 square meters comprises the object of the couple, who set great store by the technical equipment, to rely on later upgradeable products as well as sustainable and economically sensible equipment. In addition to a classic such as the M190, other new systems, such as a CEREC, an XG 3D Ready, ARC laser and two C5 + Turn, decorate the new practice rooms. Since Aneliya Schulz is a left-hander, this was also a significant factor in the choice of equipment. So the C5 + Turn can be used completely by both sides.

Visually, it was clear right from the start that part of the already existing ’80s flair should not be lost. A special highlight are, for example, the old seats in the waiting room, which you hardly find today. The newly raised, mustard-colored cushions provide a fresh contrast to the white, modern walls. “We deliberately chose to incorporate some elements of the old practice,” explains Aneliya Schulz of the renovation work. “Our predecessor put great emphasis on quality and workmanship in his time. We have perfectly complemented and combined this with consistently high-quality equipment, “says Aneliya Schulz.

The high-quality equipment of the young practice also includes a CEREC, an epitome of innovation and technological progress. Due to the high dynamics, especially in digital prosthetics, recording and milling devices are often already part of the standard equipment of a dental practice. The Schulz couple have been working with CEREC devices for almost five years. A practice without chairside systems would therefore have been unimaginable for both and was firmly planned from the beginning. Of particular importance to both is the ease of use, flexibility and service provided by CAD / CAM technology. “CEREC is the future for us. No, actually it is the present, because we both have been working with it for a long time. It is one of the centers of our treatment, “says Norbert Schulz.

Buying CEREC through Henry Schein was also obvious to the couple. Not only the long-standing cooperation with the competent Henry Schein sales force, but also the technicians already well-known to the couple as well as the CEREC specialist were decisive for the choice of the depot. “The instruction in the device was really good thanks to the Henry Schein CEREC specialist. We did not get a typical 08/15, but a tailored to our prior knowledge briefing, “praised the couple.

The couple of dentists got to know and love each other more than ten years ago at the University of Erlangen. Already at the beginning it was clear that they wanted to start a practice together in the region. As a panacea for a successful practice, both find it not only important to be technologically up to date. Equally important to them was maintaining the family atmosphere in their practice. So the team was taken over and supplemented by two new employees. Many of the patients have been coming to the practice for over 30 years, and Mr. Schulz hopes that this will continue for the next 30 years.
