Dental treatment for children and adolescents – practice clinic riedenberg

After careful diagnostics and detailed advice, we develop an optimal treatment concept, individually tailored to each child. We have a wide range of options available.

fillings

We use cement (glass ionomer cement) or plastic (composite or compomer) as filling material.

The slightly yellowish cement filling is softer than plastic and therefore wears out faster. This results in less durability. The cement filling is paid in full by the statutory health insurance.

The tooth-colored, high-quality plastic filling is particularly smooth, clearly more durable and resilient, but is only paid in part by the health insurance.

We would be happy to advise you in detail so that you can make the right decision for your child.

placeholder

Milk molars have an important "placeholder function" for the second teeth. The premature loss of one or more of these teeth disrupts the function and development of the entire chewing organ. Therefore, we always recommend the integration of a placeholder in such cases. It must be decided in individual cases whether a fixed or removable placeholder should be preferred.

children crowns

If a milk tooth is already destroyed by caries to a great extent, one filling is usually no longer sufficient and children’s crowns must be used. Medical stainless steel crowns are used in the posterior region. They enable the restoration of the milk molars, so that the chewing and placeholder function is retained. For all who don’t have silver “Knights"- or "princess teeth" want, there are also white, but more expensive crowns.

Milchzahnendodontie

Caries can quickly ignite a milk tooth nerve and cause it to die, even if the hole looks small from the outside. In most cases, the diseased part of the nerve must be removed. Root canal treatment is necessary if the deciduous teeth are dead. The tooth should be restored with a crown after each endodontic treatment. Improper treatment (e.g. leaving the tooth open or boring out) can lead to long-term health damage.

children prostheses

If a child loses several teeth due to an accident, illness or tooth decay, it is important to arrange for a replacement quickly, otherwise the child may be severely hampered in chewing and biting. In all of these cases, the now very delicate plastic child’s prostheses help: they ensure that food intake works well again. But they also play another important role: Today, no child has to be ashamed of missing teeth!
