With this offer you can a lot of Classify the children’s treasures according to various criteria. In this way, you promote the basic mathematical understanding. Also put
the toddlers deal intensively with the treasures collected. In this way they make valuable experiences of nature. The promotion of fine motor skills is not neglected here either.
You need:
- Natural material in the form of leaves, snail shells, chestnuts, acorns etc.
- 1 sheet of cardboard per type of natural material
- Liquid adhesive and possibly a hot glue gun
How to do it:
Allow yourself several days or a whole week for this offer. So the toddlers can always deal with the natural objects. Always involve the children’s senses. This is how you holistically educate the children. Take a look at the collected natural material with the children. This can be branches, sticks, snail shells, stones, flowers, grasses, leaves etc.. Speak With the children about the properties and consider the special features together. Let the children feel the natural material themselves.
For example, how does it feel when you fill the chestnuts by hand? Or is there a difference if a child feels it on the delicate skin of the face? Let the toddlers feel the weight of individual collectibles in hand. It is also useful to compare the weight of different objects. For example, the weight of a leaf with that of a stone.
The children can also smell the finds and compare the smell. Accompany this linguistically. Then you sort the material with the children according to certain categories.
The fact that the children have had a holistic experience of the material beforehand makes it easier for them. For toddlers it is recommended to first sort by material, e.g. B. all stones,
all leaves, all sticks are put together.
Experienced children can also sort according to other criteria, e.g. B. by color, size, generic term (e.g. tree, flower, animal). Glue the items together with the children on the cardboard. Use a sheet of cardboard for each category so that the corresponding category is also visible.
Important NOTE
If you have to work with hot glue, be sure to pay attention, that no child burns itself. Write the generic terms found on the cardboard. Then hang up the collage at child height. So the toddlers can look at them and feel them.
