Does tooth pocket cleaning really make sense? (Periodontitis)

A tooth pocket cleaning really makes sense?

I’m at the dentist regularly. On Monday he said that I would need a tooth pocket cleaning (gum treatment) because my tooth pockets > Are 2mm. They are 3 and 4 mm in size. He diagnosed a prospective periodontitis (at the very beginning) Now he has additionally made a germ test, which was sent to the laboratory, he said with one "aggressive" I might even need germs if I had germs. Know 2 people who have already got a tooth pocket cleaning and they say "never again" it was painful despite the anesthetic gel. Great. Of course I am now completely afraid and do not feel like doing this. I also told my dentist and he said – it doesn’t hurt with his treatment – that used to be – now I should "keep the ball flat" and don’t panic. Question: Does anyone know anything here? Is this tooth pocket cleaning really as necessary as the dentist says ?? and has anyone ever had a pain-free tooth pocket cleaning? or does it hurt already?

Unfortunately, I have had to do this regularly for many years because I have chronic periodontitis. Yes, this treatment is very important because the untreated tooth pockets are getting bigger and bigger and there are deposits. In the long run, this leads to a decline in the gums and, as a final consequence, to the loss of the teeth, since they lose their hold because the jawbone also regresses and becomes thinner. This treatment used to be very painful and uncomfortable. However, I have to say that the last treatments were hardly painful for me and the gums healed very quickly. So, don’t drive yourself crazy, that’s half as bad.

your dentist sounds obvious.

I would rather expose myself to a short attack of pain than to later cure a protracted infection. In addition, tooth decay often results in unprotected tooth necks (increased susceptibility to pain) and wobbly teeth.

Thank you for your answers !

The dentist has dignified it and that’s why it’s important to have it done to avoid tooth loss. The pain is noticeable but can be endured. It is more of an uncomfortable feeling than real pain. An anesthetic injection is only necessary and you will get it if you can not stand the slight pain.

A friend also has periodontitis, but the severe form, he always got this treatment until last year. The teeth were so loose that they almost all had to be removed. The teeth were perfectly fine, no holes and nothing, but as the jaw receded, the teeth became loose. His dentist told him that if he hadn’t made this condition on the tooth pockets, which were always very difficult for him, the teeth would have had to be removed earlier. I think that’s a tough case, but I would have to endure it if you were to have my teeth out in the end. The implants ultimately cost more than a small car.

Hi there. I’ve had severe pain brushing my teeth for a few days.

I was already at the dentist because of this, he said that periodontitis should be ruled out and recommended that I brush thoroughly and vigorously. But when I do that, the gums bleed and suddenly there is a lot of pain.

The dentist said that if you bleed while brushing your teeth, it was good and would only remove the bacteria from the mouth.

I can not brush my teeth without pain! It does so in several places "Above and brushes" totally hurt. :(

What should I do? How can I heal the gums? I look forward to your tips! :)
