The way to work

Appropriate training with a state examination is usually required for a successful career change. This is regulated by state law and is different in each federal state. In most cases, a medium-level education and pre-pedagogical training or internships are required to be admitted to the training. In the training center, you can finally find out to what extent initial training or courses or professional experience that have already been completed can be taken into account. The actual training or further training takes about two to four years and sets from the theoretical part in school with internships and the year of recognition. The latter consists of a one-year internship, which is required for state recognition. It can be shortened if the career changer has already worked in social pedagogy or has the appropriate training. In some cases, the internship can even be omitted if a minimum grade point average has also been achieved in the graduation certificate.

Some federal states offer career changers the opportunity to shorten their study time by taking an entrance examination – those who pass can start the second year of training. Even those who have a high school diploma or a higher degree or have already completed academic work in the field of social education can shorten the training period.
