What does the labor market situation look like for educators??

Educators have very good chances in the job market. This is partly because the industry generally offers many possible uses. Due to the high proportion of young women who would like to have a child themselves, jobs are often available as maternity representation.
On the other hand, educators are desperately looking for, because since 2013 there is a nationwide legal entitlement to a childcare place for each child, which has completed the first year of life. In addition, a wave of retirement of pedagogical personnel is expected for the next few years.
Especially male educators are very happy to be hired. The male quota in crèches and kindergartens is currently well below ten percent. There are already campaigns aimed at changing this situation and getting more men enthusiastic about the profession of the educator.

Alternatively, high school graduates are admitted if they have a longer relevant internship in a socio-educational institution. Even those who have non-relevant vocational training, have about one year social-pedagogical practice experience to be admitted to a technical college or at a technical college.
Each application is checked individually. There is no obligation on the part of the school to accept a candidate. In addition, she can set her own criteria by which she chooses her students. What different forms of educator training there is?

The classic way of becoming an educator is to attend a vocational school for social education. In Bavaria this is called Fachakademie. Many state and private vocational schools and vocational colleges often offer educator training. These are usually addressed to educational supple- ments who are already working in a socio-pedagogical field of work.
Apart from that, some basic pedagogical courses of studies have existed for some years. These are usually offered by universities of applied sciences and qualify the graduates for employment in socio-educational institutions and often also for a managerial position.
Another way to get the state recognition as an educator is the successful participation in a non-pupil or external examination. However, this option is only for very few interested parties in question.

How is the educator training structured and how long will it take??

Performance assessments are carried out regularly through written tests, presentations, elaborations and project work, as well as through practical examinations in the respective institutions. The students should put what they have learned into practice. Intermediate certificates are also compiled at most technical colleges in order to inform prospective educators about their level of performance.
After two school years, a written exam takes place in the form of exams. Content is usually the theoretical and practical learning content of the past two years. Often, students also have to write a written paper on a pedagogical topic. This should comply with scientific standards. The practical exam is followed by the practical year or year of recognition. This will be done by the prospective educators in a socio-educational institution. As a rule, they have to work there for at least 30 hours a week, but they receive compensation for the first time. What are the contents of the educator training?

The contents of the training are determined by the respective school on the basis of the curriculum that the respective Ministry of Culture stipulates.

These include the development of developmental psychological foundations, learning theories, pedagogical currents as well as educational processes and learning theories.
