“Time journey – mediaeval adventure” is the name of the half-day program of activities for groups of children and school pupils at the Ehrenburg, bookable from Tuesday to Thursday.

In this special agenda which caters for school classes and holiday groups, children and teenagers on a thrilling journey back in time, letting them into the secrets of life at a mediaeval castle.

Participants learn to make bread and pottery, fire a catapult and shoot with a bow and arrow, exploring all corners of the castle as they do so.

Education

The Ehrenburg’s educational program aims to combine the best possible authenticity with maximum learning benefits while providing the ultimate all-round experience.

Lacking, the imagination is cautiously filled in the blanks.

With their combination of many learning and learning methods our educators and performers pull out all the didactic and aesthetic stops.

Our programs regularly instills Enthusiasm for the colorful Middle Ages into entire groups of children, leaving them with a lasting interest in history.

Schedule

One of our time traveler guides greets the children at the castle gates and outlines the day’s plan before introducing them to the hustle and bustle of a mediaeval castle. Split into small groups, the participants through a varied and exciting program of activities.

With the castle captain the day‘s apprentice archers learn to defend the castle against enemy intruders in the outer bailey of the lower ward. Drawing the bowstring, taking the aim and finally letting the arrow fly to the target.

Novice bakers knead dough to make tasty flatbreads with the castle maids or cellarer. At the bakehouse, our stone oven under the arcades in the courtyard, the children gain first-hand experience of a skill which is now obsolete in this form.

There are no time travelers with rumbling stomachs at the Ehrenburg! At midday the master cooks in the castle kitchen and feeds the hungry mouths a good lunch: hearty vegetable soup with or without a poultry sausage and fresh bread from the mill!
