So smart is fun!

  • Triggering an earthquake yourself, testing gravity, creating volcanic eruptions and tsunamis – children can do that in the special exhibition “The strong four”, a interactive exhibition about the natural forces of the earth. With the title of the exhibition “The strong four” are not only the powers of Earth, fire, water and air meant, but also four cartoon heroes with the names Eddy, Branda, Windy and Splash. The likeable four each represent a natural force and accompany the visitors through the exhibition. With the help of speech bubbles in comic style, the heroes explain the handling of the exhibits and provide the necessary background knowledge. The aim of the exhibition is to convey small and large visitors, how these forces affect our earth and what happens when they get out of control. This is Geography lessons at your fingertips – true to our motto “So smart is fun".

The exhibition is included in the museum entrance fee.

    TUTMIRGUT

From 07.09.2019 Jump into the ball pool, let yourself go on the ascent and descent, listen carefully in the labyrinth of noise, take a break on Luises Wiese – that’s the trip to Tut-mir-gut.

The active ones "I’m fine"-Offers address exactly the issues that are important to children and parents: nutrition, exercise, noise pollution, relaxation and dealing with feelings and conflicts. In the game, children discover their own condition and get a feeling for positive and negative body sensations: "What is good for me – What is not good for me". The focus is on understanding and learning through personal experience.

MINDFULNESS – MUCH MORE THAN JUST A HIPPER FASHION

Contrary to critical voices, which ridicule the now inflationarily used term “mindfulness” as a short-lived fashion trend, various research shows the effectiveness of the ability to stay in the “here and now”, to be present and attentive to oneself and others.
Regular mindfulness exercises at school and / or at home have a positive effect on the development and mental health of children (and educators). You just do good :-).
After a digression that briefly outlines the most impressive research results and shows their relevance for education, impulses are given as to how mindfulness practice could look at home and in class.
In addition to the exercises for the children, there are also suggestions for their own more relaxed handling of stress and strain.

BE A ROLE – EDUCATE BY LIVING

“There is no other reasonable education to be a role model. If there is no other way, a deterrent. "(Albert Einstein)
All children imitate their parents. Not only speaking, children learn all (!) Other behaviors from their parents. There is a great opportunity and responsibility here: are we always good role models as parents? Because we can only expect from our children the behavior that we set ourselves.
The lecture gives parents and educators food for thought and everyday tips. He wants to encourage people to reflect on their own behavior.

MEDIA – CURSE AND BLESSING FOR OUR CHILDREN

What do our children play online? Which films (You tube etc.) do you see? When are you allowed to use your cell phone? Our children grow up with the Internet and its overwhelming abundance – but media literate children always need media literate parents!
The lecture gives an overview of children’s media consumption. It illuminates whether and which rules make sense and shows which enriching possibilities and negative influences the various media have on our children’s lives.
