Cities worth seeing in the Bavarian Forest – excursion tips for families with children
A cultural highlight is the World Cultural Heritage City of Regensburg with the cathedral and the historic old town as well as some interesting museums. The Gäuboden town of Straubing offers many shopping opportunities in the pedestrian zone. For families an excursion to the Straubing zoo is recommended. In summer, the family-friendly outdoor swimming pools in Falkenstein and Roding provide a wonderful cool-down. In the river Regen you can take an adventurous canoe trip with the whole family.
