Explain to me the ingmar wendland kerstin m

The calendar year has two important Christian festivals. On the one hand Christmas, on the other hand Easter. Especially with children you experience these festivals differently and more intensely. They also force you to deal more with the origin of different customs – at the latest when children ask why. It is nice to be able to use age-appropriate literature in these situations, which can answer these questions in a simple and child-friendly way. "The little messenger from heaven" is a series in which "Explain the Christmas season to me" now too "Explain the Easter time to me" has appeared. We took a closer look at this book.

Easter does not start on Easter Sunday or Good Friday. In fact, it started much earlier, seven weeks earlier, to be exact. In the middle of winter, when it is still gray and cold outside, the world is upside down in many places: it is carnival and people dress up in the most colorful costumes. Mardi Gras ends on Ash Wednesday, which also marks the beginning of Lent. It ends again on Palm Sunday, a week before Easter. This day also commemorates how Jesus came to Jerusalem with his followers. On Holy Thursday, the Last Supper was held by Jesus instead of, after which he was arrested by the soldiers. Days later, on Good Friday, Jesus was brought to trial and sentenced to death on the cross. His followers mourned, but not for long. Because on Easter Sunday Jesus rose from the dead. This day is a very special holiday for Christians. It stands for hope for an afterlife. Forty days later we celebrate Ascension Day, the day that Jesus returned to God in heaven. Now the last festival of Easter has come, the Pentecost festival.

Unlike Christmas, the festivals around Easter do not necessarily have a happy origin. During Lent one should renounce, some days of remembrance have to do with betrayal and death, until then, on Easter Sunday, the resurrection brings light and hope back to the people. But how do you explain this time to the little ones, children aged around 24 months? How do you convey such a comprehensive story to them in an age-appropriate manner without frightening them? Which of these can be left out without leaving gaps in the explanations?
Ingmar Wendland shows how it’s done. He collected the essentials of this period of several weeks and prepared them for the little ones. In doing so, he cuts down the very extensive Bible story to the most basic. a lot of he takes their dark background from dark places and simplifies them, especially the crucifixion of Jesus. Here he explains that Jesus was condemned to carry his cross to the mountain and died there. He does not go into how, but continues the story about the events.
All of this is done in a simple language specially adapted for children. By the way, the picture book is a non-fiction book and not a story. Nevertheless, Ingmar Wendland always includes something narrative between explanatory texts.
A double page was always dedicated to the various holidays and commemoration days from Ash Wednesday to Pentecost. The – at first glance extensive – continuous text is always accompanied by a large, colorful illustration by Kerstin M. Schuld. They show essential elements of what has just been mentioned.
Easter and Easter are strongly influenced by religious influences and customs. Therefore, this book is very Christian.

For everyone who is looking for a picture book that brings the little ones closer to and explains the Easter time from the perspective of the Christian Church, can feel free to access this book. In simple words, the time from Ash Wednesday to Pentecost is explained in a child-friendly and informative way. It helps parents to attune their children to the Easter time in an age-appropriate manner and to experience with them the special features of the various holidays.
