Family vacation in Normandy
Normandy owes its name to the Normans, whose cultural legacies can still be found throughout the region. But also the Coasts and landscapes are particularly attractive for family vacations.
Normandy is steeped in history and culture, but there is also a lot to offer in terms of landscape. The region in the north of France enchants vacationers with its rolling green hills, steep cliffs and pretty towns. The region is divided into Lower and Upper Normandy, the dividing line of which is the Seine. The cities of Rouen and Le Havre are on the right side of the bank, on the left the more rural Normandy with the Contentin peninsula. Normandy owes its name to the Normans who settled here in the 9th century. To today In every corner you can still find cultural evidence from times past, such as the castle of Falaise or the ruins of the Château Gaillard in Les Andelys. In addition, there are the numerous Gothic cathedrals that can still be seen in Alençon, Bayeux, Coutances, Évreux or Rouen.
The coasts of Normandy are particularly attractive for families with children. The Côte Fleurie and the Côte de Grace have enjoyed a reputation for exclusive beach holidays since the mid-19th century. Thanks to the regular rainfall, the slightly hilly interior shines in a lush green almost all year round. A particularly lovely landscape is the Pays d ’Auge, around the Orne. The famous apples from which the cirdre and calvados are made grow here. In spring, the area turns into a sea of pale pink flowers that gently scent.
No matter where you spend your family holiday in Normandy, every corner has its own charm.
