The Côte Fleurie and the Côte de Grace have enjoyed a reputation for exclusive beach holidays since the mid-19th century. Thanks to the regular rainfall, the slightly hilly interior shines in a lush green almost all year round. A particularly lovely landscape is the Pays d ’Auge, around the Orne. The famous apples from which the cirdre and calvados are made grow here. In spring, the area turns into a sea of pale pink flowers that gently scent.

If you vacation in Normandy, you have many opportunities to pass the time. Hikes and bike tours, sightseeing and museum visits, but also fun and games on the beach. For the latter, around 600 kilometers of coastline are available from Le Tréport in the northeast to Mont St-Michel in the southwest on a family trip. The Côte de Nacre, with its wide, long sandy beaches, is especially popular for you beach holiday.

The most famous place is Courseulles-sur-Mer on the Côte de Nacre, which leaves nothing to be desired with hotels, restaurants and leisure activities. Despite increased construction measures in recent years, most places on the coast have retained their special flair. But don’t miss a trip to Port-en-Bessin and Arromanches-les-Bain. Here you will find a fortress tower and the Musée du Debarquement with historical photos and models that commemorate the Allied landing in 1944. Children’s fun is the Luc-de-Mer city park, where you and your family can learn a lot about whales and other marine mammals.

Four nature parks invite to outdoor activities. The Parc Naturel Régional des Marais du Cotentin et du Bessin with its protected landscape of swamps and wetlands is a real paradise. You can explore the unique natural spaces by boat and encounter a wonderful flora and fauna. Horse lovers are also in good hands in Normandy. Kilometers of riding trails are available and a dozen riding schools offer courses for all levels and ages.

If the weather doesn’t play along, a visit to the Musée du Jouet in La Ferté-Marcé is a cheap alternative. Toys and machines from the past are on display in the former bathing establishment. A trip to the Les Bois-Francs family park is also ideal for a rainy afternoon. Families with children can spend several days here in the bathing area, with a wide range of leisure and course options and a park. But what would a holiday in Normandy be without visiting Mont St-Michel?
