Family Travel Blogger heike kaufhold – cologne format

about Heike Kaufhold

Heike Kaufhold is a journalist, blogger and publisher of the family Travel blog KÖLN FORMAT. The blog is one of the most famous families of travel blogs in Germany. KöLN FORMAT is aimed at families who want to travel with their children, but also at (alone) travelers who want to take a break from everyday life. Thematic emphases on Cologne format are city trips with children, extraordinary road trips and trips away from the typical holiday destinations and in the midst of the absolute hammer season: the school holidays!

I live in Cologne and am the mother of two boys at the age of 8 and 10, somewhere between defiance and teen phase and all the wonderful challenges that a family life brings with it. So we are in the middle of the best school age, which is why it is even more important for me to plan the school holidays so that together we can see as much of the world as possible

About travel blogger Heike Kaufhold – Cologne format

For twelve years I worked as a TV news journalist for a large Cologne private broadcaster. As for live broadcasts, nothing can shock me anymore. Eventually, however, the working hours of my job could no longer be combined with my life as a mother and blogger, which threw my personal work-life balance off balance. So I took a very bold step at the beginning of 2.5 years ago and quit my permanent job as a news editor. I started my own business in early 2014 as a writer, online journalist and blogger and has never regretted that in any second!

That’s how I started early as a blogger on press trips (2011) and working with tourism companies. At that time, we all – the whole team of the travel blogger collective – did a real pioneering work in the travel blogger industry. Such a tweet catapults back wonderfully into the past times.

My article from that time finds her here: Quo vadis travel industry? By bloggers and print journalists from March 2012.

The topic ‘news’ still interests me today. Anyone following me on Twitter will quickly see that it’s not just about travel issues at all. Even my skeptical-questioning glasses I have not filed since and is also very important to me for work for and with this blog.

If there is something less going on here at Cologne format, I am certainly working for other media, companies, agencies or partners. For example, in the WeLT on Sunday (print and online) a travel column from me appears regularly: here column 1 or column 2. But I also supply articles for companies in the travel and automotive industries.

In addition, I editorially manage the Instagram channel of a major German car manufacturer and curate articles for the Dutch travel agency Blendle for the travel section. By the way, you can follow me as well. I would be very happy!
