The country of Croatia is known as a pleasant holiday destination with children. We saw many longing pictures that the Mediterranean transports during family holidays in Croatia. The subtropical vegetation, historical architecture, hospitable people, beautiful beaches and wonderful islands in Croatia.

All of this was good for us in Croatia with the children. We set off and looked at some destinations for vacationing with children in Croatia. We liked that – and we’ll tell you about it here!

Where are the most beautiful beaches in Croatia?

There are many beaches for a beach holiday with children in Croatia: We found sandy, pebble and rocks. Hardly any coast is so little built in and the water is as clean as the beaches in Croatia. Both official investigations and the German ADAC have confirmed this with measurements. A total of 97.4% of the Adriatic beaches are suitable for bathing, the majority of which are particularly clean.

Croatia has some sandy beaches, but most of the beaches are pebble or you go over rocks into the sea – a small drawback for a family vacation by the sea. But we found some nice spots with a sandy beach … There are small sandy beaches in Ilovik (beautiful island!), Mali Losinj on the island of Losinj, Medulin, Crikvenica, Lopar, Silo, Privlaka, Omis, Lumbarda, Zaton and Simuni. More of that later. But they’re not that big.

Our tip: A good mix of beach vacation with children and nature vacation is possible on the island of Losinj. There are beautiful little paths right by the sea that you can hike with children. And for a change, you can always jump into the sea and cool off.

We recommend that you travel to Croatia in two parts. With a stopover in Austria, the journey will not be so stressful and you will find other things on family holidays Austria that are not available in Croatia.
