Family vacation on the North Sea for relaxation with children

The far north of Germany is always worth a visit. If you want to spend your family vacation relaxed by the sea, the North Sea is the right place in the summer months. The hustle and bustle often go hand in hand here. So that a family holiday on the North Sea is fun and enjoyable for everyone, we also have a wellness hotel for you and your children.

East Frisia and the East Frisian Islands

This region is one of the most popular travel destinations on the German North Sea coast. The seven East Frisian islands of Borkum, Juist, Norderney, Baltrum, Langeoog, Spiekeroog and Wangerooge line up like pearls on a string from east to west. With the exception of Borkum and Norderney, all islands are car-free and can be easily reached by boat from various main ports. You can expect varied dune and mudflats, seal banks, idyllic beach promenades and kilometers of sandy beaches. The spa district on Borkum is also impressive with its impressive dark lighthouse.

But also on the East Frisian mainland there are charming cities like Emden or Aurich for family holidays. In addition, the old windmills and cozy Frisian houses stand out. Plenty of flat land keeps the view sweeping up to the horizon. On a family vacation on the North Sea, a guided mudflat hike with the children and a fun boat trip or even a ride on a crab cutter should not be missing.

Sylt and the North Frisian Islands

This fascinating region in the far north of the Federal Republic offers with the sophisticated Sylt one of the most popular German travel destinations. Arriving by car on the narrow Hindenburgdamm is a spectacle. With its old Frisian villages, bathing experiences, the Red Cliff and a large hiking dune, the island itself has a lot of natural wonders and sights for an eventful family vacation. The evening sunsets and a relaxing walk on the beach are very romantic and recommendable.

Amrum and Föhr, the other two North Frisian islands, are more original and are particularly suitable for a stay in a family hotel on the North Sea. With the Kniepsand, Amrum has the widest beach on the German North Sea coast. Föhr, however, is known for its Frisian traditions. You should also have visited one of the Halligen, small islets in the stormy North Sea, which are almost defenseless against the tides and regularly washed over by the floods. Only the warts, raised hilltops, then protrude from the sea. The most famous Hallig is Hooge, where you can even visit an interesting museum on Frisian living culture.

Outposts of Bremen and Hamburg on the North Sea coast

The two large German Hanseatic cities, the Neuwerk islands and the port city of Bremerhaven, both have outer areas on the North Sea. While Neuwerk has a massive lighthouse and visitors can reach the island by horse-drawn carriage or even on foot at low tide, Bremerhaven has the largest container terminal on the German North Sea coast and attracts with an excitingly staged emigration museum. In addition, the Maritime Museum is well worth seeing. You can also easily reach the two important port and spa towns of Cuxhaven and Wilhelmshaven from here.

The German North Sea coast offers you a successful mix of beach, sea, cities and landscapes as well as relaxation for the whole family.
