Root canal treatment with dental microscope

Today, root canal treatment is a safe way to preserve your own teeth. With a dental microscope the tiniest structures inside the tooth become accessible and the treatment is predictable and permanent. Often other extensive treatments such as dental implants can be avoided by preserving one’s own teeth.

Patient cases treated in our practice

Anterior tooth revision with internal bleaching and composite restoration

In this case, the front tooth had already been treated with a leaky root filling as a teenager. As a result, the tooth had become discoloured. The plastic filling had broken off in adulthood.

We have repaired the leaking root filling under the cofferdam and with a dental microscope. After disinfection with ultrasound, the tooth was restored with a new dense root filling and then bleached from the inside.

In order to restore the tooth shape, we reconstructed the tooth with composite. The restoration of the tooth with a crown is not necessary.

Root canal treatment on tooth 37 with dentin adhesive restoration

Partially retined wisdom teeth repeatedly cause deep cavities in the neighboring teeth. The restoration of such a defect is difficult. In this case, we reconstructed the tooth with a dentin-adhesive composite restoration and received root treatment under a cofferdam.

” Nothing is more beautiful and works better than your own teeth. That’s why tooth preservation is always our top priority! “

With modern composite technology, minimally invasive instruments and optical magnification aids, teeth can now be repaired easily and gently. The materials are indistinguishable from your own teeth. A large removal of substance, as in the grinding of dental crowns, is usually no longer necessary today. Regular prophylaxis supports the preservation of your own teeth.

Endodontics is the modern form of therapy for the treatment of inflammatory diseases of the tooth root. These inflammations are mostly caused by caries bacteria which penetrate deep into the tooth interior and can infect the root apex and the jawbone. The signs are usually severe pain, but such inflammations can also be painless. In this case, a bacterial inflammation is detected by X-ray of the jaw area and treated with root canal treatment.

The root canal system of a tooth resembles a tree root with many branches. These are so fine that they can only be seen and treated with a surgical microscope. Conventional techniques, on the other hand, usually only treat the main branch. In the course of time, the remaining bacteria spread and reinfect the tooth.

Elimination of dental inflammation: root canal treatment

In the so-called root canal treatment, the tooth is first isolated from the oral cavity and the germs contained in the saliva by means of a cofferdam. Then all the branches in the tooth are inspected with a dental microscope and the canals are cleaned of the dead tissue and bacteria. Dr. Vogtner, a dentist, uses ultrasound to protect the substance. With a bacteria-proof filling, the tooth is closed and permanently preserved. Only through a sterile working environment, the dental microscope and the thoroughness during the treatment, a predictable tooth preservation is possible with the root canal treatment.

Modern technical treatment methods: The dental microscope

Dentist Dr. Andreas Vogtner is a specialist in endodontics. Due to his focus on endodontics, he has great experience and routine in carrying out the treatment. With the help of a dental microscope, the inside of the tooth root is enlarged 25 times, so that even the smallest structures and ramifications inside the tooth can be seen. Dr. Vogtner can perform root canal treatment with maximum precision using a dental microscope. This allows a particularly precise procedure that is gentle on the tooth substance. The advantage for patients is that microscopic root canal treatment promises a minimally invasive procedure as well as a high degree of safety and treatment success.
