Giveaways for children’s birthday – 5 beautiful ideas

On a funny children’s birthday, the celebrated birthday child can look forward to many nice gifts and a great party with his best friends. But what actually speaks against thanking the young guests for a fun day with small giveaways? Nothing at all. We will show you how you can create wonderful guest gifts in the shortest possible time and with low financial expenses!

Anyone looking for the term "giveaway" in Duden will remain unsuccessful because the word simply does not appear there – although what is behind the term has gradually become a firm and extremely popular part of children’s birthday culture in recent years has blossomed. But what exactly is it with the so-called gospels? The answer: About little things that go to the Guests to be presented to the birthday party – as a reminder of the day. Such mini gifts can be bought in stores, but it is much more personal and creative to make the gifts yourself. We provide you with various ideas (each with detailed, illustrated instructions and divided into two large blocks – the cool animal and the other variants), which you can produce yourself quickly and inexpensively.

We would like to give you a hint on the way in advance: All instructions refer to the manufacture of an object. Create as many of them as children want to appear on their offspring’s birthday. Also adjust the purchases of the required crafting materials to the required number.

Dog with thank you letter

You need:

  • a sheet of square paper (colored or plain)
  • black marker pen
  • scissors
  • Craft glue or hot glue
  • big button
  • stationery
  • pen

Here’s how to do it:

Step 1: Fold the brown, square leaflet into a triangle.

2nd step: Lay the double-layer triangle with the tip down in front of you.

3rd step: Fold down the two upper corners (left and right) a little so that the dog’s ears are created.

Tip: Use the scissors to round off the earlobes a little.

4th step: Take the lower triangular tip of the leaflet between your thumb and forefinger and bend it up. Caution: Do not fold, but fold up in an arch. Then glue the tip with craft glue or hot glue.

Tip: use our pictures as a guide. By following this step, you should create a sheet that leaves room for a rolled-up letter.

5th step: Now stick the button on the tip as a nose.

6th step: Then paint the dog’s eyes and eyelashes as well as the mouth and small dots next to it with the black felt-tip pen.

7th step: Use a ballpoint pen to write a few words of thanks to the respective child on pretty writing paper – e.g .: “Dear Alexander! Thank you for spending this special day with us. "

Step 8: Roll up the described stationery.

Step 9: Insert the rolled-up paper into the sheet that the dog’s snout reveals. Finished!

Butterfly with lollipop

You need:

  • sturdy craft cardboard
  • Stoffreste
  • Fineliners
  • pencil
  • little loose eyes
  • Lollipop
  • scissors
  • Cuttermesser
  • craft glue
  • our handicraft template

Here’s how to do it:

Step 1: Print our handicraft template (butterfly wing) on paper and cut it out with scissors.

2nd step: Transfer the stencil with a pencil onto colored cardboard (e.g. in pink, blue or green).

3rd step: Carefully cut out the butterfly wings with scissors.

4th step: Fold the wings once in the middle (from left to right) and then fold them apart a little.

5th step: Take the cutter knife and cut two slits a few millimeters wide in the middle between the two wings (at a distance of about two to three centimeters).

6th step: Fold the area between the two slots up a little so that a small arch is created through which something can be inserted.

7th step: Use scissors to cut out a few beautiful decorative elements from a fabric remnant that matches the color of the cardboard box – for example heart, Stars or flowers.

Tip: In order to obtain elements that are as large and shaped as possible, you can of course first create appropriate stencils with paper, pencil and scissors, which you then transfer to the remnant of fabric and cut out.

Step 8: Glue the decorative elements appropriately on the butterfly wings – depending on where there is space.

Step 9: Glue the mini loose eyes to the lollipop with craft glue.

10th step: Put the lollipop in the bow and you’re done with the sweet sweets!

Tip: Write the words of thanks on the butterfly with a fine fineliner – e.g. along the edge or in the two wing halves.

Colorful paper cups

You need:

  • colorful paper cup
  • Construction paper in different colors
  • black marker pen
  • Wackelaugen
  • scissors
  • craft glue
  • filling material
  • Acrylic paint and brush

Here’s how to do it:

Step 1: Elephant, monkey, mouse, dog or cat? Pick yourself from the animals mentioned. Draw ears, nose and eyes on color-matched construction paper. An elephant needs a trunk, large floppy ears and, of course, friendly eyes. A lion, on the other hand, has a wide nose, sharp eyes and cat ears.

2nd step: Cut out the elements with scissors.

3rd step: Now the paper cups are painted in the special color of the animal. The elephant is gray, the lion is light brown and the zebra is of course black and white stripes.

Tip: If you want to go a little faster, you can spray the paper cups with colored paint or stick them with colored paper.

4th step: Then glue the parts to the paper cup – of course in an appropriate place, so that a harmonious overall picture is created.

5th step: Use black felt-tip pen to paint the pupils on the eyes and, if necessary, nostrils and mouth on the respective face element or mug. But it looks particularly funny when you stick on loose eyes.

6th step: Fill the mug with a few sweets or other little things. Finished!

Felt bag

You need:

  • felt
  • Gift ribbon made of fabric
  • thick needle
  • nice thread
  • scissors
  • Cuttermesser
  • filling material

Here’s how to do it:

Step 1: Cut a piece of felt to the desired size with scissors – e.g. 20 x 20 cm.

Tip: To draw correctly, simply use a pencil and ruler.

2nd step: Fold the bottom edge up a little – as if you were creating an envelope. Leave enough space in the upper area so that this piece can then be folded down as a closure.

Tip: If you use felt, you don’t have to hem the fabric.

3rd step: First sew the sides of the bag together. So first the left and then the right – or vice versa. To do this, use a thick needle and a beautiful, stylish thread.

4th step: Now fold down the still untouched upper area.

5th step: Take the cutter knife and cut a slit in the middle of the locking area. This should be large enough that you can pull the ribbon through it easily.

6th step: Fill the pouch with a sweet dose, such as a small bar of chocolate.

7th step: Thread a very long piece of gift ribbon (made of fabric) through the slit and wind it several times around the small felt pouch.

Step 8: Skilfully pull the tape end through the previous tape parts so that the closure of the felt pouch holds well. Finished!

Handkerchief with good gifts

You need:

  • pretty handkerchief or napkin
  • filling material
  • Curling
  • scissors

Here’s how to do it:

Step 1: Take a pretty handkerchief or a napkin and lay it on the table in front of you.

2nd step: Fill the cloth with a good dose or two – such as gummy bears and other small treats.

3rd step: Use the scissors to cut a sufficiently long piece of the crimp tape.

4th step: Fold the edges of the handkerchief up and a little bit.

5th step: Tie the crimp tape piece prepared in step 3 around the folded handkerchief and tie it tight (directly above the candy). Finished!

General information about the ideas

All of our ideas presented in this DIY guide can be modified and customized as you wish. In any case, you only need a few (and inexpensive) materials for the implementation, some of which you probably already have at home. You never have to spend more than 20 to 30 euros for the various recommendations (all materials, fillings and children to be given are included). Furthermore, all giveaways are created in the shortest possible time. Even if you want to prepare ten or more of them, the "work" is done in an hour or two. The more helpers you support, the faster you will be finished. So feel free to put all family members who enjoy tinkering in her small Project a – especially the birthday child, of course, who is looking forward to his friends and wants to give them a sweet present.

Special tip: It would also be an idea not to make the small gifts beforehand, but only to get the necessary materials and let the children make the creations themselves at the party. This would be particularly useful for fun things like the catapult.
