To properly educate children is to develop a language that both parties can communicate well with. For example, children are given a variety of instructions every day such as: “Be quiet!”, “Go to your room!”, “Stop nibbling on your fingernails!” Or “Bring the garbage down”. Every such statement generates resistance. Resistance costs strength – its power as a parent.

This article is about exercises for non-violent communication (CSF). As you may know, if you have dealt with this topic, the model of the CSF consists of the four points: observation, feelings, needs, and requests. These non-violent communication exercises will help you better use this conversational practice. The answers can be found at the end of the article.

Parenting education: early childhood education

The second is about children’s education books, which in particular deal with a healthy way of dealing with children. The third and most recent blog entry is about Coaching Kids, a book on parenting that recommends interpersonal communication with children.

Finding the right book on parenting is not that easy with the huge selection available online and at specialty stores. The many years of my professional experience have shown me that there are few books that I consider to be so valuable that I would recommend them to you. This book on parenting is one of them. It gives a good introduction and a vivid overview and as a bonus you also get it as an audiobook!

One of the authors who has always accompanied me and my career as a communication trainer and parent consultant is Thomas Gordon. Who does not know him: Thomas Gordon was a pioneer of humanistic psychology, who was nominated several times for the Nobel Peace Prize because of his work in conflict resolution. Can you really only internalize something from books??
