How do I get to Orihuela Costa?

Your journey to the southern Costa Blanca

Your holiday apartment or private holiday home in Orihuela Costa is located on the Costa Blanca just south of Torrevieja. The most convenient way to get to your accommodation in Orihuela Costa is via Alicante airport. From there it is about 40 minutes by rental car south along the coastal road N-332, past the large salt flats of Sa Pola and the popular holiday resort of La Marina. As the name already suggests, Orihuela Costa is located directly at the sea. The capital Orihuela is located 40 kilometres inland.

Weather & Climate What is the weather like in Orihuela Costa?

That is Mediterranean pure – year-round sun full

With an average annual temperature of over 18 °C and less than 500 mm rainfall per year, Orihuela and its surroundings are ideal for a holiday all year round. Winters are mild with temperatures rarely in the single digits. In summer it is hot and dry – perfect for a beach holiday in Orihuela Costa. The water temperature of the Mediterranean rises to 27 °C. Gastronomy & Culinary Where can I eat in Orihuela Costa?

Welcome to the land of paella

Even though paella is not the national dish of Spain (and difficult to find in some regions of the country), the Cosa Blanca is one of its birthplaces and Orihuela Costa and the surrounding area offer a wide variety of good paella dishes. Pay attention to where the locals eat their paella. The individual ingredients (seafood and/or meat, e.g. rabbit and vegetables) should be clearly tasted. Fresh fish from the Mediterranean Sea has become expensive due to declining stocks. Sea bass and anglerfish can be found on the menus of restaurants, as well as chipirones (small squids) and pulpo (octopus). Meat is usually grilled. Very tasty is the Botifarra/Butifarra, a pork sausage in black or white. It is eaten hot or cold. You can get good wines in any restaurant. The local plants come from the valued regions Valencia and Alicante as well as Utiel-Requena and Yecla, which lie further inland.

What can you experience with children in Orihuela Costa?

For water rats and sand castle builders

The beaches of the Costa Blanca are legendary – white sand and turquoise sea before azure sky. In the vicinity of your holiday home or private apartment in Orihuela Costa, there are numerous beaches for bathing in the Mediterranean. The large Cala Bosque in La Zenia is ideal for families with small children. A romantic coastal path leads from La Zenia to Cabo Roig, where there are other playas that are ideal for children. At Playa Flamenca you can stroll along the promenade and enjoy the sun.
