Stroll-friendly local walks – directly from the hotel

Stroller tour through the village and along the lake promenade

Ideal stroller circular route from the Familienhotel Post- Kinderhotel am Millstätter See From the Familienhotel Post, take Überfuhrgasse to the lower market square. The transfer lane is paved and therefore easy to push. At the lower market square you walk over cobblestones (ideal for falling asleep) at the cinema, and various cafes and at the old Georg knight’s castle and now Lindehof. Down to the Seepark at the children’s playground and various art objects, over the bathhouse to Villa Postillion and further to the promenade. Magnificent views of the lake, cozy banks to feed and relax and watch people. Back with Russ’s art object “Family”. Guests of the Familienhotel Post can make a detour to the private bathing beach of the Postillions. Splash around a bit in the lake. Via the promenade to the herb garden, further to the ship dock and further to the boat rental Strobl. Past it goes to old villas to the Schillerpark. There is an ideal place to feed ducks and watch swans. Over the Riegenbach to Villa Verdin, past the flower meadow of Hotel Nikolasch and over the Black Road back to the Familienhotel Post.

Duration Comfortable walking time approx. 1 hour with the various rest areas and cafes, but it can also take much longer.

Culture stroller tour through Millstatt am See

This stroller tour leads past many beautiful old and culturally sensitive buildings and squares. From the Post family hotel, the market square by the old town hall. Above the tennis courts to the Staudacherhof. There we turn left into Barbara Egger Park with its old trees and historic defense tower, between the old trees, down to the tennis court. We then stopped at the terrace of the bathhouse in front of the unique diving tower for an evening "safterl", so the duration was 2 hours;).

Over the Seepark to the Lindenhof, past the 100 year old linden tree, through the Stiftshof and Stiftsgasse with its paving stones (great help in falling asleep) back to the upper market square and back to the hotel.

Hiking trails suitable for prams – directly at the hotel

From the Familienhotel Post it goes the old Handwerkergasse (Überfuhrgasse) to the Schillerpark am See. The Peter Pan ferry awaits us there. As a bicycle ferry, it is also ideal for transporting prams. (The ferry leaves every hour on the hour between 10:00 and 17:00). With the boat it goes 1km over the water to the south bank to Grossegg / Schuster. The gravel forest path is now partly on the shores of Lake Millstatt, partly a little above the lake in a westerly direction towards Seeboden. The south bank is a Natura 2000 protected area and offers a lot of nature, cozy bays and some animals. Ducks, swans, horses in the paddock, … Benches along the way invite you to take a break.

In Seeboden we stopped at the beach cafe Legere and at the Steiner boat station with the big steamer back to Millstatt (journey time around 30 minutes, from 11:00 an hour http://www.millstaettersee-schifffahrt.at/sommer/).
