The Allgäu – perfect for the family!

Nature, exercise, sport, culture and lots of leisure fun. All this awaits families on an Allgäu holiday. The Allgäu is one of the most popular holiday regions of the Germans due to its diversity. Boredom does not arise here – especially for children!

Those who like to spend an active holiday with children are in good hands on special hiking and cycling paths. In addition to theme trails, such as a hike through the moor, there are plenty of interesting waypoints to discover while walking through woods and meadows. Native animals, plants and exciting waters await families here. Those who would like to go high but are not quite so good on foot can use one of the numerous mountain railways in the region. So all family members get to the summits and down again quickly and easily.

For many families, cultural excursions are also a topic on holiday with children. In the Allgäu you will find some cultural sites, which might also interest the little ones. The most famous of all is of course the royal castle Neuschwanstein. Especially from the restored Marienbrücke bridge, directly above the Pöllatschlucht gorge, you have an unbelievable view of the building. Even children’s eyes will be amazed!

Another excursion destination for families are the castle ruins Hohenfrey- and Eisenberg. From Hopferau you can easily reach the ruins by bike or by a short hike. Here families can not only walk through the open walls and vaults of the ruins, but also enjoy the fantastic panoramic view of the Allgäu mountains. In the nearby, newly designed castle museum there are five themed rooms and children’s wards about the castles and their former inhabitants. Let the castle cinema take you on a virtual journey through time into the past of the castles!
