Short breaks and weekend trips are very popular, not even two hours drive from Frankfurt we have found in the scenic expanses of the Hochsauerland a perfect place for such everyday getaways.

True to the motto “Why wander into the distance, when the good is so close?” we spent the weekend in Hotel Oversum Vital Resort in Winterberg, which is a real eye-catcher even from a distance with its unique architecture. The egg-shaped construction is unrivaled in Europe and is home to a multifunctional facility, which houses the tourist information center of Winterberg next to the hotel.

Already at the welcome, the initially suspected impression of the sober design hotel gives way to a warm welcome and lived hospitality.

Hotel Oversum: Room variety and culinary delights

With four different room types and three different suite categories, Hotel Oversum in Winterberg offers an exceptionally diverse selection of rooms. Whether alone, as a couple or as a family with children – the right offer is available. If you want to enjoy your stay in a romantic and luxurious way, we will do it for you spacious suites with fantastic views on the top floors to the heart. In the room price are basically two small bottles of water, Wi-Fi Internet connection, the use of the sports and spa area and the rich breakfast buffet (sleep until 11 am) inclusive.

On our day of arrival we enjoyed a delicious dinner in the hotel restaurant after a walk through the surrounding area, which in addition to the normal card courts also 4 course menu offering three different main courses to choose from. The quality was absolutely convincing not only in view of the fair price of 29 EUR. In addition, as part of the “Culinary world trip“Theme buffets currently changing on Saturdays. Our second evening was therefore in the character of the Egyptian cuisine, the buffet us from the ambience in comparison to the menu of the previous evening could not fully inspire.

Relaxation pool with massage functions, its own Swimming pool, indoor and outdoor saunas as well as various relaxation areas with ample loungers are available to hotel guests in Oversum every day for free. There is also a small outdoor pool and sunbathing area for the summer months. To top off the recovery factor, we also recommend one of the offered spa treatments, which are also of very good quality.

The location of the Hotel Oversum in Winterberg is truly amazing and perfect for a relaxing holiday with enough variety. In the middle in the spa park The hotel offers an all-round beautiful view and lovingly maintained walking paths, but also outdoor fitness equipment and a miniature golf course as well as four large Kneipp pools are spread throughout the park. The center of Winterberg is also just a stone’s throw away and offers along a pleasant promenade various boutiques, cafes and restaurants. A notable feature: Winterberg has 40 (!) Sundays open for sale in the year when the shops are open from 11am to 5pm!

For those who have not burned enough calories while shopping, the Hotel Oversum Winterberg also has some options for healthy enjoyment. Instead of the rather decadent dinner menus, there is the possibility to book a so-called “Logi-Pension”. At this the guest gets a light two-course menu for lunch and dinner, which according to the LOGI method (Low Glycemic and Insulinic Diet) places value on a contemporary, enjoyable way of carbohydrate reduction. The on-site gym also offers the opportunity to take the usual endurance and strengthening exercises with state-of-the-art equipment.

There are deductions here in the B-note, as the fitness equipment was a bit awkwardly placed in the middle of the café in the passageway to the sauna. This, however, tarnishes the positive overall impression the Hotel Oversum Vitalresort in Winterberg not at all, even a normal weekend has us completely relaxed and enthusiastic. The idyllic location in the spa gardens and the scenic expanse of the Hochsauerland are perfectly complemented by the amenities of the 4 star plus hotel, which due to its shape can be described as “Surprise“Can be called 100 percent feel-good factor.
