Hotels in south africa – all accommodations of our great travel

hotels & Accommodations in South Africa – All accommodations of our great trip

We spent almost two whole months in South Africa and stayed in numerous hotels. Since we traveled at the beginning of the season and were looking for accommodation in South Africa relatively late, it was often not so easy to find something suitable.

In the end we discovered but really nice hotels for the most good prices and it was just a real flop.

In this post, we now tell you all the accommodations in South Africa we have used ourselves and give you general tips on hotel booking at hand.

More contributions for your South Africa planning:

Accommodations in South Africa – That’s how we booked

We booked almost all hotels in South Africa through Booking.com *. Only in Cape Town did we avoid apartments via airbnb.

Booking has the widest choice and some hotels can be canceled free of charge until a few days before arrival. This will give you much more flexibility during your journey and you can reschedule at short notice.

Note: If you are not yet registered with airbnb, we will give you a 30 € voucher for your first night: 25 € airbnb voucher *

Our accommodations in Cape Town & Surroundings

In Cape Town and the surrounding area there are really a lot of hotels and we spent more than a month in the city.

First four days directly in the center, then 30 days just outside in the district Table View. Both apartments we booked through airbnb, as they were significantly cheaper than hotels on Booking.com.

In general, the search for accommodation in Cape Town was not really easy, since prices are skyrocketing, especially in the high season.

Cape Town Center – Goldhouse Apartment

Let’s start with a real cracker: the Goldhouse Apartment in Cape Town! Definitely one of the nicest accommodations of our trip, if not the most beautiful!

The apartment is designed for four people, incredibly stylish and offers you a direct view of the skyline of Cape Town. A large, well-equipped kitchen and for South Africa very fast WiFi are also included.

The living room is almost completely glazed and no matter if you come home in the evening or sit at breakfast, you always have a great view! That was something very special.

Besides, the location is perfect! Right in the center with many bars, restaurants and supermarkets in the area.

If you are traveling with a couple, there is another Goldhouse apartment right next to it that is designed for two people.

Prices & Information on Airbnb:

Outside Cape Town – Flatlet Cape Town West Coast

The apartment is located in Table View, about 15 kilometers from the city center, but has a very good bus connection in the middle of the city.

It is equipped with a large kitchen, a bedroom, a living room, a small front garden and is directly attached to the larger house of the landlord.

Within walking distance are two large supermarkets, some restaurants and the gorgeous Blouberg beach. Definitely one of the most beautiful beaches around Cape Town.

Incidentally, the two owners are Germans and can tell you a lot of good tips for Cape Town and the surrounding area.

More accommodations in Cape Town

You do not want an apartment but rather a hotel? Then take a look at these three accommodations:

Our accommodations along the Garden Route

The Garden Route is the most popular destination in South Africa besides Cape Town and the Kruger National Park. Accordingly, many hotels of different price ranges you can book here.

Approximately For 2.5 weeks we traveled the Garden Route and, unlike Cape Town, we have found it much easier to find affordable and beautiful accommodations in South Africa.

Stellenbosch (wine area) – Zebra Cottage & Lodge

The Zebra Cottage & Lodge is located right on the Remhoogte winery in Stellenbosch. Incidentally, the name is here program! Directly in front of the lodges is a large field where several zebras and other African animals roam. Super cool!

The individual lodges are very large, modern, equipped with a kitchen and decorated in the African style. We enjoyed it very much and we felt really comfortable.

You can of course drink cheap wine until you drop. He is pressed directly on the winery, bottled and served. Perfect for wine lovers!

Gansbaai (Hermanus) – Kerkstraat 47

Kerkstraat 47 is a small, cute cottage for four people in Gansbaai. We used it as a starting point to go whale watching to Hermanus.

Although Gansbaai is located about 40 kilometers from Hermanus, but is much cheaper and you are there in about 30 minutes by car.

The house has a relatively large and well equipped kitchen and is therefore perfect for self-catering. In the area there are also some restaurants and a large supermarket.

Unfortunately, we did not have WiFi at Kerkstraat 47, but we can absolutely recommend the accommodation. Especially if you are more than two people.

Bredasdorp (De Hoop Nature Reserve) – Taste of Haven

In Bredasdorp itself there is nothing to see, but the city is the perfect starting point for the De Hoop Nature Reserve and the Cape Agulhas. That’s why we booked two nights at the Taste of Heaven.

The accommodation itself is very rustic and has a charm of its own that we found somehow cool! Rooms are either en-suite or have shared bathroom facilities.

Breakfast is not included, but you can find restaurants and large supermarkets nearby. In our opinion, the Taste of Heaven is a good and cheap place to start excursions in the area.

George (Wilderness) – 57 on Plover

In George we stayed overnight, as it is just 15 kilometers from Wilderness away and the prices are much cheaper there. We also landed a lucky stroke with the 57 on Plover.

It is not a hotel, but a small apartment, which is connected to the house of the family Ackermann. The welcome was very warm and we were immediately overwhelmed with thousands of tips for the area.

In addition, the apartment is perfectly equipped. Small kitchen, fridge, enough cutlery, comfortable beds and super clean. Can we recommend in any case.
