But all different fillings have different durability and of course different costs.

Gold alloys are used in gold filling in dentistry because pure gold is much too soft for dental treatment. These gold alloys consist of three quarters of gold and one quarter of silver, copper or platinum. Depending on the size of the gold fill, the costs are between 200 and 500 euros. You must also note here that the costs for treatment and dental technicians for a gold crown, for example, are usually integrated. The highest costs for a tooth filling currently occur with the ceramic filling because of the high and complex material and processing costs. This involves costs of around 400 to 700 euros.

Plastic costs around 40 euros per filling because the time required is high. As is known, statutory health insurance covers the front of the teeth. The amalgam filling costs about 20 to 40 euros. Of course, this always depends on the size of the filling. But you can see that the prices are very different. If you attach great importance to beautiful and clean teeth, it is advisable to take out additional dental insurance, as this covers most of the costs. What costs for dental fillings does the health insurance company pay? ?

In general, tooth filling materials can be differentiated between amalgam, gold, ceramic and plastic. All types of tooth filling have different properties and consequently different costs for the health insurance company and sometimes also for the patient. There is a 100% grant from the health insurance company for the amalgam filling, since it is easy to manufacture and consists of a mixture of mercury and other metals.

The health insurance company also assumes the costs if there is an allergy to amalgam fillings or amalgam intolerance. Here, of course, you have to provide proof of the allergy test to the health insurance companies.

A health insurance fund also pays a subsidy if a tooth filling is to be used in the front area. Amalgam fillings have a darker color and are therefore not suitable for the front area. In the front area, composite fillings are used, which are paid for by the statutory health insurance.

Cement tooth fillings are also paid in full by the health insurance company.

How can the cost of a filling be minimized? ?

For dental fillings for which the statutory health insurance does not pay, such as ceramic fillings, it may make sense to take out additional dental insurance. This also applies to the gold fillings. In the supplementary insurance, you must then pay attention to the types of fillings that are paid by the private insurance.
