How to recognize and treat tooth microcrack?
The crack in a tooth can develop unnoticed and in various ways. A crack in the tooth or several cracks in the tooth can therefore not only have different causes. These cracks are usually barely visible, but a crack also affects the health of a tooth and the resulting consequences of treatment. The type of crack in a tooth, which is determined by its position and size, is crucial for the health of the affected tooth and the environment in the mouth. Another treatment, such as a subsequent root canal treatment, see Dr. Seidel, inevitably belong to these episodes.
Tooth microcracks are often difficult to spot, but can cause significant pain when chewing.
Dentists usually only recognize microcracks with special optical devices
The unnoticed microscopic crack in the tooth
In this problem, the micro-crack tooth is such a crack, which appears microscopic in size and is usually not recognized by the person concerned at first glance. It is enamel dentin cracks that occur in this microscopic form and result in inflammation and then root canal treatment. Strictly speaking, these are so-called tooth infractions, which are also referred to as enamel dentin cracks. These infrastructures or cracks, which are known as cracks, reach deep into the tooth gum and start on the surface, and inflammation can occur here. These very small cracks appear directly in the tooth and around fillings. There are microscopic cracks in the tooth enamel and these cracks are common with increasing age.
Enamel dentin cracks and reasons for longitudinal root fractures?
The complex of factors related to the risk of longitudinal root fractures and microscopic cracks in the tooth can be checked by the dentist.
There are two groups of these factors.
The first group of factors These cracks and infrastructures form the tooth loss, crowns and the function of the remaining teeth in their stress. Dentures and microscopic cracks that are preceded by symptoms. In the case of longitudinal root fractures in particular, it can be established that root canal treatments preceded these infrastructures. Other risk factors include over-hardened dentures, fillings and crowns made of non-precious metal and ceramic.
The purchase surfaces of the remaining teeth always apply here, which then tend to micro-cracks under the load.
Root canal treatment as a risk factor also shows clear indicators, such as jamming of the instruments, negligence and other damage caused by root filling. The dentists’ work with root canal treatment inevitably leads to errors such as inadequate removal of drilling chips, poor rinsing, and precision in root canal preparations. Many damage can be caused here, which in itself leads to a micro-crack in the tooth.
The number of these small errors and negligence then leads to the imprecise results of a root canal treatment.
Crown replacement and caudynamic planning, this concluding area of root canal treatment, can also result in the use of crowns that in the end do not fit snugly into a patient’s teeth. Here, further failures of the dentists in root canal treatment can be found, which in the long term then cause infractions and root fractures in the patient’s remaining teeth.
Even with careful root canal treatment, risk factors remain
The second group of factors For the risk of micro-cracks in the tooth, the patient’s eating habits form, teeth grinding and also accidents belong in this group.
There are latent risks and the question is always how stable a tooth is after root canal treatment. Here, as part of a functional test, the dentists have the task of checking the stability of the teeth after intensive root canal treatment. It should be noted here that even with precise root canal treatment there is always a residual risk and the frequency of the microcrack can never be completely excluded as a factor for pain when chewing.
A tooth fracture does not always have to lead to tooth loss. It is possible to treat a longitudinal tooth fracture. See also:
