“Ineligible”

For the former chairwoman of the Council of the Protestant Church in Germany, Margot Kabmann, AfD voters and politicians can not be good Christians. In addition, she stated that she did not consider the representatives of the AfD to be electable.

In the Bild talk show "Jetzt reden vier" (Thursday), the theologian said: "For me, the AfD is a party that attacks others, puts them down." She also sees "a shaken degree of anti-Semitism and in the election programs a nationalism that for me is not compatible with Christianity".

"Not electable"

Kabmann went on to say that if a party declares "that people of other origins should not live in this country," then that party is "not electable" for her. At the same time, she expressed solidarity with election appeals from the Protestant Church in the current NRW local election campaign not to vote for the AfD.

The former bishop recalled that under National Socialism, the Protestant Church made "the terrible mistake" of remaining silent for far too long on the persecution of Jews, communists and homosexuals. That is why today she is "against any exclusion, against any racism". And, "We will not allow people to be degraded because of their origin, their faith."
