Invention of the car

Time and again, cars also park on sidewalks

A 47 year old believes he has found a solution to parked up sidewalks. His idea may be effective, but it has a serious catch.

Everyone knows it, everyone hates it, but many do it: parking on the sidewalk. What is simply a nuisance for some, poses major problems for families with baby carriages or wheelchair users. But what can be done about it? Of course, parking tickets and towing services are a possibility, but they don’t prevent the real problem.

Metal spikes against sidewalk parkers

British inventor yannick read claims to have found a solution to this problem, reports the British news portal express. The employee for the environmental transport association has the "catclaw" – catclaw- developed. This consists of a cylinder and a hidden metal tip. If a car drives over the catclaw, the tip comes out and punctures the tire.

One inventor believes that he has the solution to motorists that routinely park on the pavement. The product is called ‘catclaw’ which is effectively a metal spike concealed within a dome which will instantly spike and deflate car tires that roll over it. Read is convinced of his invention and got the idea when he saw a statistic, how many people have been run over on footpaths in the united kingdom. in 2018 there were 43 people. "We’re tackling a traffic hazard – there’s a real problem with drivers parking on the sidewalk or driving on the sidewalk because they don’t want to wait.", he told the portal.

So far "only" a threat a fine for sidewalk parking

The parking claw of a different kind is to be installed in large quantities on sidewalks and deter motorists. However, there are no plans to deploy the catclaw in any British city as yet. Need would be however obviously there. express says sidewalk parkers are a big problem in the kingdom.

However, only in london parking on footpaths is expressly prohibited. In other cities and municipalities, the police and city council are free to decide whether to allow or ban this type of parking. Anyone who parks on the sidewalk in london will definitely have to deal with a fine of 70 british pounds (just under 80 euros) calculate. In germany, fines of between ten and 35 euros are imposed.

it is questionable whether the catclaw will ever be used. Drivers are not likely to be enthusiastic about the idea – regardless of whether they belong to the sidewalk parkers or not. Whether a city wants to get involved in property damage is also likely to be questioned.

Have you ever parked wrongly??
