New from 20. April 2018 there is a new flixtrain night train service from hamburg to lorrach. flixtrain night train tickets are available from 19.99 euros in the couchette car, including blankets, sheets and pillows.

There is still the motorail train, but it is a discontinued model. In recent years, the german network of motorail trains has been greatly thinned out. in 2016, deutsche bahn will only operate the routes hamburg – munich and hamburg – lorrach.
From the hamburg-altona DB Autozug terminal, you can travel comfortably overnight to munich and lorrach with your vehicle in your luggage.

The last remaining auto train routes between hamburg-altona and munich resp. Lorrach, however, are also already counted in. Probably the car train will finally be history as soon as the altona train station will be moved to diebsteich.
in 1988, the german federal railroad offered a total of 2929 car trains and 484 D-trains with car transportation. This – according to spiegel online – opened up 26 domestic and 61 international connections. In the nineties there were routes as far as greece and turkey. oBB nightjet trains – austria, germany, switzerland, italy
Somewhat more numerous are the night trains for example the oBB nightjet. Offered is the nightjet of the oBB in austria, to germany, to italy and to switzerland. oBB nightjet trains are equipped with seating, couchette and sleeping cars and are already available via oBB sparschiene tickets from 29 euro bookable.
The current autozug offers are valid only until 10. December 2016, after which the german routes will be integrated into the nightjet service of austrian bundesbahn. It has been announced that oBB will take over night trains and auto train routes from deutsche bahn. With the oBB nightjet trains reach them from 11. December 2016 comfortably overnight many destinations in europe. In addition to the sleeper, couchette or seat cars in the nightjet, certain routes also offer to take your car or motorcycle with you on the train.
oBB offers car and motorcycle on the train from 11. December 2016 on the following routes:
- Between vienna, graz, villach and feldkirch
- between vienna and hamburg, cologne, dusseldorf
- Between innsbruck and hamburg, cologne, dusseldorf
- Between vienna and livorno, verona

New from 20. April 2018: flixtrain night train FLXNIGHT from hamburg to lorrach
In the very thinned out route network of the night trains in germany breaks now flixbus. The provider has already built up a european system of long-distance buses in recent years. Today you can travel with flixbus long distance buses to sweden, france, croatia and italy.
Since the 20. April 2018 another flixtrain offer has been added: the flixtrain night train FLXNIGHT from hamburg to lorrach and back.
The flixtrain night trains start in hamburg altona at 19.50 and travel via hamburg hbf, hanover, freiburg to lorrach (autozug) arriving at 8:30 the next morning. Return from lorrach (autozug) at 19:30 with arrival in hamburg altona at 07:11.
the flixtrain night train operates up to four times a week in the season from 20. april to 30. September 2018. The night trains are equipped with couchette cars. the train ticket for the flixtrain night train is available from 19,99 euro on all routes including pillows, blankets and sheets.
