In ludwigshafen am rhein, they are currently not an issue due to a consistently pursued air pollution control plan, through which various long-term and short-term measures are being developed to improve air values and health protection, but environmental zones have been set up in numerous major German cities due to high levels of particulate matter there. In these zones you can only drive with a corresponding fine dust sticker.

Overview of the stickers

There are three different stickers, which are based on the respective emission group of the vehicle. It is important to note that vehicles in emission group 1 – this includes old diesel vehicles and all gasoline vehicles without a regulated catalytic converter – do not receive a sticker.

for vehicles of the emission group 2 a red sticker is provided, the emission group 3 – euro 3 – gets a yellow sticker and the emission standard euro 4 is marked with a green sticker. In environmental zones, a sign will indicate with which sticker it is permitted to drive into the zone.

The marking in the vehicle registration certificate or document

The pollutant group of a vehicle is determined by the emission key in the vehicle documents. These key numbers can be found in older vehicle registration documents in field 1 ("vehicle and body type") on the 5. And 6. Place. From the 1. October 2005, however, other vehicle documents were issued. There is the emission key number in the registration certificate part 1 in field 14.1.

Gasoline engines

Passenger cars with gasoline engines with emission code numbers 14, 16, 18 to 70 or 71 to 74 receive the green fine particle sticker. Cars with gasoline engines that do not have these key numbers do not receive a sticker.

Diesel engines

Diesel vehicles with emission key number 32, 33, 38, 39, 43, 53 to 70 or 73 to 75 will receive a green sticker. diesel vehicles with emission code numbers 30, 31, 36, 37, 42, 44 to 52 or 72 will receive a yellow sticker. The red sticker is intended for diesel vehicles with emission code number 25 to 29, 35, 41 or 71.

Driving bans and exceptions

If you don’t have a sticker on your car, you won’t be allowed to drive in the designated environmental zones in the future. This rule is currently also valid for classic cars. Excluded from these driving bans are, among others, mopeds and motorcycles, work machines, ambulances and doctor’s cars as well as motor vehicles of severely disabled persons who have the entry "ag" in their severely disabled pass, "H" or "B1" have.

Fees

The stickers cost 6.60 euros and are available at the registration office.
