ÖKO-TEST yearbook for 2018 including ÖKO-TEST yearbook building & Living for 2018
At some point there are no longer any "defective" or "insufficient" products. Then the consumer can shop according to his mood, according to taste, smell, appearance or simply according to the price. Then you can be sure that it does not contain any carcinogenic, toxic or otherwise harmful chemicals or that the products should not have been sold at all because they violate legal regulations. On the way there, ÖKO-TEST has made good progress in more than 30 years. After all, the new yearbook for 2018 contains over 450 "good" and "very good" products.
The tests:
Honey: The bee product is a reflection of the nature from which it comes. Unfortunately, depending on the origin, glyphosate and genetic engineering are in the glass – “organic” or not. But there are at least six “very good” or “good” brands.
Frozen fries: ÖKO-TEST has sent 19 brands of frozen chips to the laboratory. It turned out that acrylamide is still an issue. This pollutant can presumably cause cancer. After all, almost half of the products are recommended.
Silicone Pacifier: ÖKO-TEST sent 13 products to the laboratory, twelve received very good grades. All of them passed the practical test without exception. Even pacifier loads with suspected naphthalene are no longer an issue for the pacifiers in the test.
Face creams: You get for more Money more quality? Or do you pay for clever marketing? The test of 23 products, which cost between 11.95 and 51.95 euros per crucible, shows that on price the quality cannot be read.
Pain and athlete’s ointments: Over-the-counter pain gels and ointments are said to provide quick relief from bruises and sprains. But only a few are really recommendable.

More than 230 products in the test: Everything you need for building, renovating or gardening can be found in the new building yearbook & Living for 2018. You can’t build a house yourself, but you know what to look for. This applies to a wide variety of topics: from A for algae and green scale removers or cordless handheld vacuum cleaners to W for water-based paint colors. The tests in this booklet show how much can go wrong.
The tests
cork: The raw material cork combines several practical properties and thus forms a real alternative to floor coverings such as carpets, laminates and the like – albeit a little more expensive. ÖKO-TEST sent twelve cork floors to the laboratory. Unfortunately, even the products with the top grade in the overall rating were not entirely convincing.
Water-based paint colors: They smell less than solvent-based paints, pose less health problems and are also more environmentally friendly. However, water-based paints also do not work entirely without pollutants. In the test, however, 14 out of 19 products turned out to be “very good” or “good”.
Green electricity tariffs: The competition between electricity providers is becoming tougher, including in the green electricity market. Many go shopping for customers with beautiful details because they cleverly use legal loopholes. But there are also clean offers all round.
Wood pellets: Pellet heating systems are still in demand not only because of the state subsidy. ÖKO-TEST has sent pellets, which are available as sacks, to the laboratories. Most products pass the test with "very good" and "good". However, some manufacturers cheat when stating the calorific value.
