Description: Kuyichi

The story of Kuyichi

Since 2001, Kuyichi sells ecologically and fair-made jeans. It is one of the pioneers of modern and youthful eco-fashion. Fair production was still a foreign word for the fashion and especially the jeans industry, as the founders of Kuyichi abruptly transferred the Fairtrade principles from the food industry to jeans manufacturing. The entire sustainable production chain of the Kuyichi Pure Denim Jeans Collection has been transparently disclosed. At the turn of 2015/2016, the fashion label was in crisis. Then Kuyichi was rescued from bankruptcy.

The collection and production

The jeans offers the fashion label for both women and men. Meanwhile, it has the clothing line increased by a few more garments. Today, for example, besides jeans, you can also buy trendy shirts, sweaters, parkas or jackets.

His collections include the green fashion label made from organic cotton, recycled cotton, organic linen, Tencel and recycled PET.

The jeans are predominantly made of GOTS certified organic cotton, some models also contain recycled cotton and / or a low spandex content. They are produced under fair conditions in Turkey and Italy, the organic cotton used comes from Turkey and Kyrgyzstan.

The linen comes from Italy and China, Tencel comes from India, recycled PET from Taiwan. The tops are made in a sewing workshop in India.

Top quality, but that has its price. Small tip: We order more often abroad. Since there are already in some shops ever extremely heavily reduced discontinued models.

Have already bought several pants from Kuyichi, was always satisfied with the quality, but the tracking function has never worked out. A sign in the pants promises, one could trace back with the written code where the jeans were made. But with “Made-by” it was always a shame … etc. Also, I had the impression that no one had ever seriously bothered to question Kuyichi. So I have an email request, if you could take their claim to transparency seriously. Here the detailed, but m.E. little concrete or verifiable answer:

At this moment, our denims are produced in factories we work with in Turkey. Our tops are manufactured in factories located in China, India, Portugal and Turkey. In this stage, we can not provide more confidential business data, such as supplier names and addresses to remain competitive at the cutting edge of technology and innovation.

MADE-BY: http://www.made-by.org/kuyichi. For more information about the countries we are using, see our website: http://www.made-by.org/kuyichi. Momentary we are working on the scorecard of last year (2012) which will be published soon.

To start with, Kuyichi have a strong focus on improving social conditions in the factories that produce our collections. Kuyichi commits itself to improve the labor conditions in factories and throughout its supply chain. Kuyichi works with Factories who commit to improving social conditions to develop and implement improvement roadmaps. We monitor their performance against these goals. This process is verified by BSCI (Business Social Compliance Initiative, an independent verification body).

The BSCI monitoring system, including audits at the factory premises, is the largest part of our supplier base. In addition, we work with SA8000 certified factories by SAI (Social Accountability International) and factories in low-risk production countries.

Protecting the workers‘ rights as the International Labor Organization (ILO) Conventions. Bargaining, no discrimination, no disciplinary practices, normal working hours, remuneration (working a minimum of legal or industry minimum standards.

Further on the environmental side of our production process. Kuyichi takes care about the environment. Kuyichi is 1st for organic. Our innovative role in exploring and developing new sustainable garments production has led to a new conscious acceptance approach in denim & fashion. We aim to make our collection as sustainable as possible, using close to 100% sustainable materials! We are constantly experimenting with new sustainable concepts like recycled polyester, Tencel®, spare denim and hemp.

Most of our used organic yarns, fabrics and dyes are certified by the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS), which is recognized as the world’s leading processing standard for textiles made from organic fibers. It defines high-level environmental criteria along the entire organic supply chain.

70% organic fibers GOTS certified. All chemical inputs such as dyestuffs and auxiliaries used must meet certain environmental and toxicological criteria. The choice of accessories is limited in accordance with environmental aspects as well. A functional wastewater treatment plant is mandatory for any wet processing unit.

I accidentally saw the products of Kuyichi in Lüneburg during a visit to the “clothing room OHG” and immediately fell in love with some of them. I then bought a dress and a top and when I got back home I immediately visited the kuyichi website, which is really very professional and appealing as I think. Unfortunately, I have not managed to buy something again, but the dress and the top are really beautiful and wear wonderfully and since the company perfectly combines trendy fashion and sustainable fashion, I get 5 stars.

My Kuyichi jeans now last 3 years, are worn several times a week and no end is in sight!

I bought a shirt blouse from Kyuichi and am totally excited about the label. The material is great and it just wears well. Become me after I read the tests synonymous times a jeans of this brand grow. TOP!

I bought a dark blue jeans from Kuyichi about 5 years ago and she is still TOP! Very long durability make these pants a very sustainable product.

I love Kuyichi jeans! They are simply very comfortable, there are many great models and the durability is great! And for cheap foxes: In online auctions and classifieds, there are often either previous models very cheap or used parts even cheaper. Only the piece of leather could be improved – by letting it slip away. For a point deduction, but otherwise a clear buy recommendation!

Kuyichi is a trendsetter for me. High quality products that are sustainable, fair and chic. I’ve been buying jeans from Kuyichi for several years now.

I have a very great jeans from kuyichi, great quality, great fit. Unfortunately, it is difficult to come, the Internet portal is not so user-friendly, limited choice, in the store in our city, in which I had bought the jeans, the brand is no longer offered, as according to owner of the shop, the company has become megalomaniacal and minimum purchase quantities required. ?
