Family vacation on Lake Garda: amusement parks and water slides
Lake Garda welcomes families with children with a wide range of leisure options. Italy’s largest lake owes its reputation as a child-friendly travel destination not least to its leisure and aqua parks. A visit to Gardaland is a permanent memory for young and old. The oldest amusement park on Lake Garda, with its roller coasters, water shows and dwarf world, still lights up children’s eyes even more than 40 years after its foundation. A day at the Altominicio Acquapark in Salionze sul Mincio near Peschiera is no less amusing. Play fields invite you to romp and on huge water slides you can go downhill at a rapid pace. While the parents relax on the lawn, the little ones can splash around in several swimming pools.

If you have rented a holiday home on Lake Garda on the east bank, don’t miss a trip to Caneva-World in Lazise. The amusement park has a water park, a Movieland and a rock café. The peculiarity is a restaurant in which medieval shows are performed for entertainment. A safari in the Parco Natura Viva Natural Park, which lies between Bussolengo and Pastrengo, is an entirely different experience. You can leisurely stroll through the well-kept zoo and marvel at tigers, rhinos, leopards and caimans. The neighboring dinosaur park is particularly popular with the youngest, where numerous prehistoric lizards have been replicated. Another aqua park called "Riovalli" is located in the hinterland of the Bardolino wine region.

Swimming fun on the beautiful beaches of Lake Garda
Bathing and playing in the water is booming on Lake Garda in summer. The air is mild and the water of the largest Italian lake warms up to 20 degrees in August. No tropical temperatures, but always sufficient for a refreshing cool down. The gently sloping beaches on the south bank are particularly suitable for children. In Bardolino there is a flat sandy beach with some trees not far from the harbor. There is a pedal boat rental and showers on site. The Spiaggia Comunale off the Sirmione peninsula is a broad strip of grass covered with grass. There you can borrow umbrellas and children can let off steam in the adjacent playground. The large-scale Spiaggia Sabbioni is more suitable for middle-aged children. The pebble beach is located on the north shore in Riva del Garda and has several artificial bathing islands that are anchored in the water.

Surf and climbing courses on the north bank
While the south bank of Lake Garda is a travel destination for families with small children, the north bank has more offers for older kids. A climbing school in the Sarca Valley hotspot near Arco offers courses for children and teenagers. As there is a constant breeze in the northern part of Lake Garda, the conditions for windsurfing are excellent. In the surfing stronghold Torbole, a provider offers surf courses for kids, which use special, child-friendly boards. A bit off Lake Garda, in the picturesque Ledro Valley, lies the lake of the same name, Lake Ledro. People settled on its banks in prehistoric times, as evidenced by millennia-old pile dwellings. The pile dwelling museum Museo delle Palafitte even exhibits the remains of pile dwellers who were excavated in the peaty mire.

Discover the numerous family-friendly offers on the largest lake in Italy and spend your vacation with children in a spacious apartment on Lake Garda.
