You can design this movement story individually, depending on your options and the skills of your group …

The participants can sit or stand. Those who can run on the spot. An action is to take place at the word ‘lantern’.

– It is especially nice when each participant has a lantern in his hand that is held up at ‘Lantern’ (Maybe you have the opportunity to make lanterns in a craft group? Lanterns made of balloons, wallpaper paste and tracing paper do not take much time and you can also do it – adapted – with people suffering from dementia)

Lantern parade

As every year, we go with ours today lanterns to the lanternsmove. It is already dark and we are very lucky that it is not raining today and ours lanterns don’t get wet. Many people came, with many colorful ones lanterns…

Some lanterns have an animal shape – elephants, mice, dogs, bears and a frog is also included!

We start ours lanternsmove on time at five in the afternoon and hike through the fields. The lanterns dance through the dark. A sea of blue lights, green and red lanterns, yellow lanterns and orange lights.

The children have theirs lanterns tinkered in kindergarten and at school. They proudly carry them through the night …

We sing Martin songs and of course the classics, which are not part of any lanternsmove may be missing – ‘I’m going’ with mine Lantern, and ,Lantern, Lantern…Sun, moon and stars’

(At this point it makes sense to sing the Martinslieder together with the group)

In the distance we see a bright light, and when we get closer we see that a campfire has been lit in one place. We gather with ours lanterns around the fire and hear the story of Saint Martin.

The children look intently at the storyteller and hold hers lanterns very quiet. A beautiful, festive picture that I will happily remember!

At the The End the story is completely silent … Then the children run with theirs lanterns one more round around the campfire and sing a Martin song.

Now we leave that lanternsMoving slowly away with pretzels, cocoa and mulled wine. The children use their time lanterns to walk and proudly present them in the group.

Next year we can have ours again lanterns tinker yourself, right? After all, you’re never too old for that!
