Most sports clubs in Lippstadt have youth teams: from badminton and swimming to sailing and ice hockey, you can try out numerous sports in Lippstadt and learn from an early age. Many sports clubs in Lippstadt do excellent voluntary youth work with more than 7,300 children. In addition, there are the sporting offers of private providers such as ballet schools, dance schools or fitness studios, school tournaments, the ice rink on the Christmas market and the old town run, in which numerous pupils take part, staggered according to age.

Playgrounds, skating rink, callisthenics & Dirt park

Children’s University

Science to participate is the focus of the lectures and events at the KinderUni Lippstadt. Boys and girls are introduced to physical, chemical and mathematical questions in a child-friendly and playful way. In Lippstadt, the KinderUni started as a cooperation project between the Hamm-Lippstadt University of Applied Sciences, the Lippstadt Economic Development Agency and the Lippstadt Adult Education Center in 2010. Every semester, exciting topics are offered for children aged 4 to 12.

Science Lab

Young researchers also get their money’s worth in courses from the Science Lab initiative in Lippstadt. On behalf of the Department of Youth and Social Affairs of the City of Lippstadt and funded by the Lippstadt Dr. Arnold Hueck Foundation led by Dr. Vera Romberg-Forkert and Sarah Cremer have been carrying out scientific projects in day care centers and primary schools in Lippstadt since 2005. Science-Lab also offers research afternoons for talented children at the VHS in Lippstadt.

HABA Digital Workshop

In April 2018, the HABA digital workshop opened in the renovated premises of the former Egner bookstore on Geiststraße, one of the previous ones nationwide five locations of this facility. Courses and workshops for children between the ages of six and twelve take place in the digital workshop. The focus is on playful access to programming and robot technology and creative educational and experience offers for discovering and researching digital technologies. For example, there are workshops on tinkering for children who enjoy tinkering and tinkering. Tinkering offers the opportunity to design your own little robot that can move and even paint. The focus of the workshop is the shared experience and playful discovery of important basic principles of electronics. Another offer is Minecraft workshops. Here children can explore the world of this computer game and explore its creative possibilities: in small teams, the children invent and construct technically and architecturally sophisticated objects, solve challenging tasks and implement clever and funny project ideas. The workshop aims to promote ingenuity, teamwork and problem-solving skills. Another offer is sound workshops, which give children access to digital technology in acoustics. In this workshop, the young participants develop their own story and learn how to stage it themselves using modern audio software.

The contents of the HABA digital workshop are conceived by media educators, computer scientists, game and interface designers, teachers and cultural scientists. In addition to offers for kindergartens and school classes and afternoon offers in the form of workshops and courses, there are also holiday offers and the opportunity to celebrate children’s birthdays in the digital workshop.
